What is going on with carniny and not knowing what players are able to play in junior competitions? Two years running they withdraw

Carniny have just posted a status on facebook....
Statement from R.Young, Manager....After checking on the eligibility of all our players, I have decided to pull our team out of this year's Co.Antrim Junior Shield Final. I found out that one of our players had played in an intermediate status final in 2006 hence breaking rule 9c of the Junior Shield rules. At no stage of the competition did myself or anyone else at our club knowingly select a player who we knew to be ineligible. This has not been an easy decision to come to but in my mind if we are to win this competiton we will do so having played by the rules......It would be appreciated if no further posts were made here on this statement as we do not intend to enter into any kind of debate on it.
now what i would like to know is, what the feck this is all about?

Unbelievable really.
But fair play to him for taking this decision as i would say its been prob one of the hardest of his life.
Not many other clubs would make this call.

Not many other clubs would make this call. f**k me that is crazy back ground checks!!and there was bfp bein helpful in letting use no Darren bout makin sure none of ur players av done the same!!easy mistake to do as its happened 2yrs running,so nobody was tryin to get use out of it just tryin to help so say sorry like a good boy to bfp :-) |

9(c) Any player who in the previous 5 (five) seasons has played in the
Final Tie of any Intermediate Status Competition except a player
who has played in such Final as a member of a Junior Club.
it must have been a winter final in the 2006/07 season?
if it was a summer final in the 2005/06 season it wouldn't fall within the five seasons!
A ridiculous rule anyway

I know there's some really bad blood going on between the homers and Carniny at the minute about players being ineligible in the cup, which apparently spilled over a bit on Saturday.

homers v carniny final, prob biggest thing in history for the league, it just baffles me, it really does....have looked forward to this final so bad, and im sure most of the carniny players and homers players have too.

Out of interest did raceview win the intermediate cup and if so what year?! |

I wonder what Homers will do now? Cos lets face it, if Carniny have played an ineligible player, then homers have most definately done it. Probably even more than one. Carniny should have said nothing and just got on with playing the final that everyone wanted.
