Over the last two days think this thread is a fitting salute to footballers that we grew up watching and in some cases worshiping, as time goes by and new stars emerge you forget how good they were. If you can post a link to show some clips.

Original Ronaldo, had a cracking season at barca and remember him tearing united apart at old Trafford.
Saw him on tv at the Brazilian gp, he's huge!!

Loved watching him too, i think his son has declared for Spain too  I rememeber the 98 world cup, Hansen was analysing one of Zidanes games i thought he was gonna blow his load talking about him  |

Before i dawned the sondico's and played out a bit Gazza was my idol.Most naturally gifted player to ever come out of England!After i got stuck in buckets it was big Erik Thorstvedt!!Legend!!Remember making my Da take my 92/93 home keeper top to T-shirt city and got his name on it.Worst white bubble writing ever that fell aff after 2 washes!!!!!

Paul McStay was an obvious for me...
I also remember worshipping Mark Hughes at Utd. Some of the goals that man scored were brilliant, and Utd were very exciting to watch then too with a young Giggs, Sharpe, McClair, Ince etc...
Larsson to this day remains my absolute hero...

Tho not exactly A footballing legend, more my footballing legend, by no means a great footballer playing in a great league Michael Halliday is my true footballing hero if only for the hearts he broke on the blue side of the big two on many occasions, none more so than in the Irish cup final in 2001.

Larsson aside, no player has ever excited me like Ronaldinho at Barcelona. He could do things back then that ye'd never seen before. Absolute genius....him at his time at the top of world football, for me, was a match for any of the greats. Pity he didn't do it for longer. Honestly think, IMO, he'd have been the best ever...
