Correct decision imo. Ive never rated dalglish as a manager. Spent the equivalent of 320m in todays money to win one league at blackburn. Crap at newcastle, crap at celtic & crap at liverpool. he even started the slide at liverpool the first time which was finished by graeme souness that they have never came out of. For me this appointment will decide liverpools next 10 years. They get this right & with everything else in place as it is they could be championship contenders very soon. The owners have deep pockets & with the right guy bringing in the players they can go places. At the Red Sox these guys have consistently sought to bring in the best players available every year & if they bring this philosophy to Liverpool then I can see big things happen. The King blew more than £100m of their money & ended up with 2 non-goalscoring strikers, 3 awful midfielders & a half decent left back. They need to get it right this time.

I can't believe Liverpool are interested in Roberto Martinez! Ffs we are goin to be fighting relegation next year. Gone are the days of attracting the big names.

Becoming a laughing stock. No way to go about business asking to speak to so many managers publicly

Imagine your one of the bosses who speaks to them, then you don't get the job, the chairman of your present club will have tonnes of faith in you.
I know some Pool fans who still believe Guardiola is a viable target.....deluded

Becoming a laughing stock. No way to go about business asking to speak to so many managers publicly Totally agree Jeff, any wonder Rodgers turned down the offer to speak with them. Surely if a manager goes and speaks with Liverpool and don't get the job his own fans are not gonna be happy and then if next season they start with a few bad results, the writing would be on the wall.

How will Brendan Rodgers although not a bad manager but very very average in terms of top European pedigree out fox Fergie ,Mancini looking like Pep for Chelsea Redknapp and Wenger for a champs lge spot in the next 4yrs.Liverpool under them Yanks are on a downward spiral in my eyes .Shocking they want a quick fix and sign Rodgers i am shocked for the fanbase Pool have they surely couldnt be to confident in him to win the league or the usual they tout themselves for around about July every year...

Big improvement than dalglish IMO. Comes across as a gentleman and always seems to handle himself very professionally in front of the camera. He has done well for himself and certainly deserves his shot.

I dont think its a quick fix... Someone has to take a punt on young managers, imagine if porto never took a chance on jose or barca on guardiola! Wat experience did they have at the top level b4 that? Jose was a translator and guardiola managed the barca b team
Good luck to him I say, he deserves a go at it

I think its great he's from Carnlough etc played for Ballymena Utd but he's had one good season in the Prem.I am sure there's a lot of unhappy Liverpool fans today as even Martin O,Neill other side of Ballymena would be a far bigger coup but i honestly thought a big big name would come in.Hope is successfull but i am in shock he got a job like that and he will be under extreme pressure to get silverware and the obvious champs lge footie.I just cant see him outwit the managers i named above.
