Michelin V Clough Just like to say thanks to the Michelin management team for completely wasting our players time. We had boys there this morning who could have done a days work. Maybe start brushing the water off on a Friday night from now on in!!!

we were kitted out and ready to play on saturday, 10 mins before kick off Wah called it off cause there was some water lying on the pitch. Most of us were out from 9 trying to get any water lying on the pitch off, hardly unreasonable practice from Michelin To be fair Harty, there's a few boys such as myself at Michelin who work oveime on a saturday if a games off, so if I hadnt have thought the game woudnt have been played I wouldnt have turned up. I watched the Broadway v St Comgalls game earlier this season and the pitch was twice as bad as our was on saturday.

.....if the Mittster is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, then I don't see any wrong doing on their part....
In saying that, apart from being a Ger, Harty is normally pretty stright laced so as they say, there's no smoke and all that. And Mitty's a Ger too, so I don't care what happened....lol

My only problem was that two/three weeks ago we were to play Michelin at home and the council had passed our pitch playable on the Friday. There was a monsoon on the Friday night, so I got up out of my scratcher on the Sat morn to inspect the pitch. Tbh Michael Phelps could have broken the world record on it. I phoned Michelin to save them a wasted journey out to Clough. I'd been talking to Mitty (in no way responsible) a couple of times through the week and he said the pitch was in serious doubt at the MAC. I just wish that Michelin would have shown us the same gratitude thats all. P.S. I had also asked for the game to be postponed on Monday as we were struggling to field a team, my request was refused which Mich were quite within their rights to do. However, that might explain the frantic use of brushes on Saturday morning ;D

Pitch had water layin on it but was def playable!! If every game in saturday morning league was called off for that we would never get a match!!
To be honest i dont think the ref could be bothered to do the game!!

To be honest, everyone just wants to play and maybe that's why the pitch decision was left to the last minute? If there is a chance it could be played then give it every opportunity. If the ref calls it off, not much can be done about that.
We were due to play at the forum 2 weeks ago. The forum confirmed at 8.30am the pitch was fine but at 10.20am the ref called it off because of the goal mouths being too hard. Both teams annoyed but nothing we could do about it.
In my experience at Michelin when I played there, they always tried to play the games and gave the call at the last minute. If boys have work on saturday mornings they shouldn't be playing in the BSML!

However, that might explain the frantic use of brushes on Saturday morning ;D At least I was blameless At the start of the week with the dodgy weather I personally thought it was unlikely to be played, but with the weather picking up on thursday and friday and no further rain the club thought the pitch was playable. Im not sure if any of you lads had a look on the pitch or not, although I think cowboy did, but the pitch, although soft, was playable. Im sure we've all played on far worse, indeed you probably have to do so most home games! Anyway, there was no malice intended on Michelins part, we thought the game would be played, and were pretty pissed off for the 2nd week in a row 20 mins before kick off. If the match couldnt have been played on the friday Im sure the club would have informed you, I think I even told Harty on Friday night the game would be played as I hadnt heard otherwise. Anyway Wah thought game couldnt be played so we'll just have to do it again. With regards to the brushing, you will often find me on a saturday morning if were at home clearing water from the top goalmouth which always has water sitting on it, purely for the selfish reason on not wanting to drown in it ;D

haha michelin were looking for an easy three points, after we had phoned and asked for it to be called off and in reply was no chance. If it was conor or broadway the match would have been called off in a heartbeat

Broadway and Connor possibly could have, you never know. I do know it the past 2 seasons at least 2 teams in the 2nd division have refused us to have games called off. And you know who you are

The only reason we didnt want it off is because we havent played for so long!!
as for the easy 3 points, i was talking to one of your players at the seven towers match and he said you were only missin 2 players, doesnt say much for the rest of your team if your missin 2 players and sayin its an easy 3 points for us!!!

Whoever you were talking to at the Seven Towers must have been full from the night before. We were missing six regular starters. Two of our players who were there, were injured. Mark Kerr hadn't kicked a ball since Broadway beat us 3-2 and would more than likely have puleld up. Stewartie wasn't able to kick a ball properly due to a badly swollen foot. Unfortunately we aren't all blessed with the squad depth of Michelin.

...aaah that was a fine day Harty, "Fish, take yer beating" lol....
To be fair we heard on Saturday before kick off that Clough (obviously we were wondering who Michelin were playing) had a big chunk of their squad out. We heard it was a stag party or something but either way it was floating about that Clough were short....

think its probably best to draw a line under this one ;D Game wasnt played anyway, similar to some of the Clough lads I missed out on a days overtime as well which I couldve done with, but we thought the game would go ahead anyway. The fixtures say we will meet again To be fair I also hear heard you were missing half a squad too Harty, but in saying that it must be good to have the option to calling out a quaility player like Deano to help you out when struggling, even though he maybe hasnt played in a while, he's a super footballer.

I your right Andy. Very clever use of the underlining, where did you learn that one? Big Dino is retired maybe 5 years now. He was only there to spectate on Saturday but, it looked as if he would have to be called upon. Thats how far we were stretched in terms of players.

I must admit I did have a wee laugh to myself when I figured out how to do it ;D. Sad, but its been a long old day at work. Im sure he would still be more than capable of staying in the centre circle the whole game spreading balls around abd ebing the best player of the pitch. When I seen Deano I was half expecting Alan Stewart to walk around the corner too. He still tells me ma all the time about his wonder goal for ye's!
