I can confirm from a very good source that Northend will be in Div.2 next season, the problem was Castletown hadnt offically handed in their resignation from the league but will do it tonight, so Northend are back in Div. 2 for definite!!

Again, this is not true Mr Lisbon. I have it from the best source ye can ask that Castletown have contacted the Montgomery Mansion to apologise for not fulfilling their last league games and that they wish to continue with their position as a BSML club, meaning that poor Norffend are doomed to the third for another year!!!

Just to add my tuppence. I too heard from a reliable source that Castletown retracted their resignation letter and want to remain in the league.
I have also heard that Leo Heggarty will be manager. Dont know how true this is but it is possible.

There is no need for the people at Northend to worry. The rumour about Leo taking over at Castletown is rubbish. He had the chance to manage Castletown when they had just won the 1st Div a few years ago and turned it down. Why would he want to take it on now when they have nothing.I know for a fact that all the money in the club funds was donated to charity. One kit was given to Shore Wanderers .The other kits, training gear and balls were also given to charity.

northend were only told after their playoff that there was a chance of them gaining promotion as castletown were considering folding, which has now been made official!! if u r trying 2 say that northend didnt try in their playoff final lenny then u must have been at a differnet game, and also u wudnt play for northend in the 3rd then i feel that the northend manager although u r a good player shouldnt sign u as u r either with them thru wotever or u r not!!

Was at the AGM tonight and I can confirm that NorthEnd indeed have been promoted to the 2nd Division.
Castletown did attempt to withdraw their resignation letter but Monty had a "conversation" with John Taggart and it was decided that they would not pursue their attempt to stay in the league.
Hope that clears that up

TBH, I for once agree with Lennard here. Yes of course Northend tried very hard that day, hense the great comeback at the end of normal time, and were fairly beaten. However, when I was on the sideline that day, even before kick off, everyone was talking about the 'fact' that Castletown had folded and that Northend would be in the second no matter what happened that day. This doesn't mean that Northend tried any less or were complacent that day but I'm just stating a fact that it was common knowledge before that final that Castletown were out and the End were to benefit!
So bchoops, your point that they were only told of a 'possiblity after' the final is wrong as it was more a case of 'the fact before' the final had even started. It really did go back that far.
It's over now. They were beat in the playoff fair and square but will now play second division football at the expense of Castletown.
