just heard a disturbing rumour at the weekend that certain key individuals on the management and playing side of castletown are seriously considering their future involvment with the club.if the people concerned do indeed walk away i can see no future for castletown.i think the club will surly fold which would be a shame for a club with such a great tradition withen the bsml.hopefully they will reconsider because it is easy to walk away when things go wrong.but knowing the people involved i cant see them walking away.so hopefully it turns out to be just a rumour and they can turn things around for the better.

Rumour doing the rounds is that Marty isn't taking over.
Rumour I heard was that it is Jim Devine and Derek Quinn.
I guess only time will tell.

Doubt its Derek.......was taking to him last weekend and he has no plans to return to football in either a playing or managerial capacity.
Couldn't see Jim taking over either.....although he is Castletown through and through, i think he'll stick to the refereeing.....................smart money is still on Marty

Dunno what is happening with Castletown but they could do worse than have Jim Divine step in as Gaffer. A top bloke who is very well thought of.
Having said that, if he was to take over, as Catman mentioned, the league would be down a referee, one of its better ones at that.

Top bloke Jim and one I have a lot of time for , I wish him well and I would think thing were pretty bad for him to have agreed to take charge, as I don't think he had ever any ambition to go into management ,but I guess the great clubman he is ,he couldnt see the club go down, so I say good luck to him

Would just like to wish Jim all the best in his new role. A Castletown man for as long as I can remember and should know some decent players from his refereeing stint. Still got some work to do though

Yes Jim is a top man i think he will do very well in this role if given time! Good luck big man! As puggie says its a shame in that the league has now lost a top ref as well

Not good to hear...Castletown have been one of the top sides in the BSML for many years and its never good to lose a club like Castletown. know a lot of people associated with the club and im sure it'' be hard for many of them to take.
Is this 100% definate to happen.....could they not stick the rest of the seaosn out...regroup and walk the 2nd division like they did 2 years ago

Just heard today that Castletown are to fold. There will be a meeting this week to confirm the teams demise.A sad day for Antrim football. Sad day indeed if this happens and I for one hope they can hang on ,but its a thin line between success and failure ,but with in my opinion too many teams in the BSML and the restriction with higher league players, it makes it increasingly difficult to keep a large squad together, which is required to compete and see a season out ,because anyone doing sub regular for one of the top teams is easy pickings for teams who will give them a game every week because true Clubmen like Jim Devine, Willy Brown, etc are rare these days ,so I can see more of this sort of thing happening

I heard a rumour that Castletown only had 9 men last night, and because of this the game was not played, so Carniny will likely get the points with a protest, if this is so it is a disgrace!!

Im somewhat confused....do you boys thinks is a disgrace / joke that Castletown had only 9 men or that the game was not played or just that Carniny will get the points. Maybe its all three. I would like to say that Catletown have been in the league a very long time, in fact they were the first BSML team to win the junior shield.(Something that the BSML should be very proud of). They are going through a difficult time this season so give them a break

Time sits still for no one now adays including Castletown

Firstly I think Castletown should have played this game with the 9 men..........then within the first 5 minutes they should have got 2 sent off so that the ref would have had to abandon the game. ;D
Secondly, back4 it sounds as if your having a moan just cause Castletown beat you's. Let face it you have only yourselves to blame if you couldn't beat the 11 men they put in front of you. I take it that you wish that they had turned up with no squad for your match so that you can get an easy 3 points since you couldn't beat them on the pitch. ;D
I am sure the league will deal with it appropriately.

I do take your point Brian but I dont think for one moment that Castletown are deliberately trying to do anyone out of points. In fact I know they are struggling to keep the club together....a club that has a long standing history with the BSML. So for my money they should be given a break from unnecessary criticism as I would be sure that the Castletown committee and management team are as unhappy about the situation as you are.
As Chris says, the league committee will deal with any rules that have been broken.

You were beaten fair and square on the pitch. The position you're in is no one's fault but your own, league tables don't lie, accept your fate and stop being a baby about it. You had 20 matches before playing castletown to ensure your safety. Stop looking for a scapegoat, look closer to home. Yes we where beaten fair and square, I have no problem with that at all, and yes the league table does not lie, but one thing is for sure, we will honour all are fixture's right to the last match, there will be no easy match for any team who will play us. As far as being a baby about it , WELL!! this baby can add to 11+ 3 subs makes a football team

Castletown had 12 players for the Carniney match. 30 minutes before kick off 3 players cried off because of work committments.
l'm interested in how you would deal with that situation? Don't tell me you would contact other players. They only had 12 players available to start with.

I got to admit i think a few people have blown this out of proportion. I'm sure that Castletown aren't the only team this year to turn up to a game without a full squad.....especially considering the circumstances. I doubt castletown themselves wanted to turn up with 9 men and it is slightly embarassing....but unavoidable. To be honest, if this wasn't a first division team i dont think this conversation would even happen.
