Westend 3 - 2 Michelin This game nearly had it all and I dont know where to start  Darren Burgoyne put Michelin 1-0 up on about 10 mins after some sloppy midfield play by westend, great finish from about 10 yards. Next major incident was a through ball to myself from midfield, found myself on the left inside the 18 yard box, put in a cross between goal keeper and defender and somehow the defender got a toe to it before it reached gary mcilroy and it goes over. Next major incident was another through ball from midfield and I'm racing through on goal and that michelin hero rubberman grabs me and wrestles me to the ground, last man back, ref gives him a yellow trevor greer picks up the ball in left midfield and cuts into the 18 yard box and blasts it home to make it 1-1. I cant remember much else about the first half except that we hit the cross bar from a freekick. Second half see's Darren Burgoyne take a shot from outside the box which was heading for Fisherwick (or maybe the moon) and it takes a wicked deflection and ends up in the top corner, michelin 2-1. The game didnt really do much after that until the last 5 mins, the ball comes into the box and bounces up of a michelin defender and hits him on the arm and goes out for a corner, penalty appeals aplenty after the ref blew evan forsthye up 3 times for the ball bouncing up and hitting him on the arm outside the box previously, but nope, corner kick. Off the resulting corner a shot comes in and a michelin defender heads it off the line, penalty the ref gives for hand ball ross handford puts it home cooly. Michelin then still go and attack the game, as do westend which ends up a crazy end to end 2 mins where there should have been more goals than there were but it is mark watson who passes the ball home from 3 yards to grab the 3 points for Westend. |

Cant argue too much with that Rab. We were probably lucky to go in 1-1 at half time as were were pretty awful first half. 2nd half we played alot better, draw was probably a fair result but being 2-1 up with 5 minutes left we should never lose a game. The penalty was probably the worst decison ive seen from a ref in the BSML, clearly headed off the line and to be fair I think he knew it straight away. For some reason, rather than take a decent point with a couple minutes left after the penalty we tore forward for a winner and got caught out in the break with about 8 of our players still in the Westend half Thats footy for ye anyway! All the best to you Rab for whatever your doing next and for Westend for the rest of the season. |

It's was a real sickening way for Michelin (or anyone) to lose. However i think when we finally raised the pace in the last 15 mins we started to resemble the in-form Westend of old. Hopefully we can build upon this to cement our div 1 status.

Not a bad assessment of the game Rab. Thought it was going to be one of those games when that second went in but we battled back well. Penalty decision was crazy but there was a nailed on penalty just before that so we didnt complain! Big Rubbermans face told a story with that second rash tackle not long after he was booked!
