Only seen Dowie play once and that was against Ahoghill Thistle in the cup last season when Carniny won 3 nil and he didn't stand out in that game, think he was just gettin back from B'Mena and was trying to get match fitness and sharpness back...but thats only one game, ...if I seen him and carniny play more id probably change my mind but can only judge on that one game I seen, plus 80 odd goals in a season cant really be ignored lol Seen doik play for raceview a fair bit and he was scoring 2 or 3 every time I seen him, his touch and movement are different class Both are top strikers and different class, every defender in the league better hope they dont end upfront together :-).....for the mighty thistle off course

I dont think this is a fair vote The majority of ppl on here only play, watch or take to do with bsml in the last 5 years. Dowie has ruled in goalscoring and rightly so the man is class act. Doik is only back to bsml and playing for thistle so ppl won't seem him in the same light as someone who has been putting 90 a season in their league. Carniny are a better standard than we are ( for now ) so dowie will again score a bagful this year. I think if doik was at carniny this year he would more than keep up with dowie, imagine them together!! Frightening

Was Dowie not at Ballymena, an Irish League premier division club while the man you refer to was scouted by an afternoon nonsense team? Did that happen for a reason - was it because he scored some ridiculous amount of goals that will never be repeated? Dont compare a machine with a mortal. 85-95 whatever the figure was is f**king ridiculous. Why do people feel the need to compare instead of simply praising Dowie for an absolutely incredible tally and wishing he was on their team. I didnt know the fella - saw a bit of Carniny against LTOB II's. On this forum talked about 1 goal that was simply 'different gravy' and asked who scored it? Answer - Dowie. Shhhhhhh!!!!!!! He's different class and I still wouldnt know him if he walked past me tomorrow!!!

I have played and managed in the bsml for nearly 30 years and the best centre forward ive ever seen play in this league is Chris Dowie...absolutley no competition........and.....he is a great humble guy that makes him even better. Plus me and him share the fact that we are both 3rd division players of the year for Randalstown teams......

lads i have played with both and tbh there is not as much difference in them as people on here are making out. doik is a class act and has scored goals no matter where he has played. im sure if you asked a defender who has marked both they would rather mark dowie than doight as i have heard numerous defenders say that doight is one of the hardest players they have ever marked as he is so good in the air and works the channels for 90 mins never giving the centre half a breather...alot of people on here dont know how good doight actually is and his goal scoring ratio is outstanding wherever he has played.
dowie is a real good friend of mine.i can remember him coming to randalstown and all the hype that surrounded him when he was 16....he can strike a ball at a hundred mile an hour with both feet and a great first touch and a goal machine in sat morning league football. he has the special talent of not being really involved in a game and then smashing one from 30 yards into the top corner to win a match...he is also probably the best striker one on one i have ever seen in the bsml also.
honestly think it is unfair to compare them as they are both strikers granted but its like comparing thierry henry and alan shearer completely different players but both brilliant strikers in there own right who any club in amateur football would take in a heart beat.

Have to agree with yer point about different types of striker, spot on....
Haven't seen much of Doik (or one of the other ways Junior spells it ;D) in recent years so I probably couldn't give an honest opinion. Seen plenty of thon other one though....absolutely lethal in front of goal!!
