Back to the league this week, a win could potentially see us move up to 5th in the table if the ahoghill v homers result goes our way. We only conceded 3 goals in the whole month of sept, we are back scoring for fun and have 4 wins back to back. Ballykeel are somewhat unknowns to us but we know they have last years league top goalscorer, Im sorry I cant remember his name (Jay/Jason?), also Brett Mclaughlin, Chris Djorjani, Barry Bonnes plus other good players. Ballykeel are bottom of the league, but if they were to win their games in hand they would be level with us, so that shows you how tight it really is in there, so saturday is a great chance for us to move away from the bottom half and establish ourselves in the top half of the table, Come On Westend

Jasin Magill very good player.
Ballykeel seem to have a good 11 but like most teams have little depth plus they have a couple of key injuries atm with Boyd and McKay out.

Chris looked a great player that night, I was wondering who he played for. They managed to score 2 goals against ASOB last week, something we never achieved, so I am expecting a very tough game, pitch looks great in that pic

Tower Blinds Ballymena Saturday Morning League Div 1
Sat 8th Oct - Ballykeel 3 - 4 Westend Athletic - (R Handford, M Handford 3)
Match Report
A bit of a thriller this one, some great goals on display, Marcus Handford scores a hatrick and bags the winner in time added on. Westend go 1-0 up through a Mark Watson corner, Ross Handford header in the 2nd min. Marcus Handford makes it 2 -0 on 8 mins with a peach of a half volley from 20 yards, Ballykeel come back into it with Rab Crawford scoring a well placed header from a corner, 2-1. Some neat wing play from Ballykeel ended with a well taken goal from Barry Bonnes, 2-2. Marcus Handford then rifles another rocket into the top corner from 20 yards to make it 3-2 at half time. Westend Dominate the 2nd half but it is ballykeel who equalise through a wonderfully placed goal from 25 yards which hits the top corner, Keeper no chance, 3-3 with about 15mins to go. Westend Athletic missed a stack of chances, as do Ballykeel with the inform Westend keeper Stephen Greer making some fine saves. It looks like it is going to be a draw when Ballykeel hit a ball into the box and the westend keeper fumbles and the on coming ballykeel striker misses an empty net. Last min of the game sees a series of westend corners and eventually ends with one that lands on Marcus Handfords head who puts it away to seal the win for Westend, a deserved 3 points given the chances we missed but on another day Ballykeel could have taken the 3 points. 5 wins on the bounce for Westend

Good work gents. Is that report right Rab? It was definitely Cussy and not Ross that scored the hat-trick??

cussy scored the hatrick. The 2 brothers are locked on 7 goals each for the season, joint top goalscorers

Thanks for clearing that up......... El stit shirrer indeed! Great report rab, like the use of words like 'peach' and 'rocket' To be fair it was a close game and despite the keel being bottom at this stage we knew it would be tough. Certainly a better side than some we have played this season!

I was talking to Monty at the top 4 final and he was saying Timmy is very good at getting the write ups in, he just changes a few things about. I was thinking my descriptive writing skills could liven the BSML page up Big stan used to entertain us with things like 'rose like a salmon' etc etc. Quite a lot of people read those write ups, I always get people mentioning them

B'keel had some good pass and move attacks but seem to lack real leadership in the middle. we definitely did enough to deserve the win. i was just worried that we might get hit on a counter attack or run out of time
a few players back and B'keel will be fine

A word of appreciation for our managers actions today by making the right decisions on the areas we needed to address; giving Arnie support and switching wingers at half time was brilliant. Bringing on some pace up front changed the game and there only looked one winner from that point on, it is not only identifying the problem, it is coming up with the solution.

credit where credit is due, I can be his biggest critic at times, so can many people, but today tactically and with his finishing, you cant do any better, the 3 points today, he made them
