see if you can guess who penned this match report ...
match started off quite quickly with north end having the best of the opening exchanges, and had a couple of good chances before christopher smiley latched onto the rebound of timmy connolly smart save from mark mcgaugheys powerful shot. north end had a couple of chances to go two up, before a goalmouth scramble resulted in ryan agnews clearance hitting david hendron on the back and ending up in the net. 1-1 at half time. second half and saints were starting to cause the northend defence problems before mark mcgaughey latched onto a clever free kick from anthony lee and headed the ball over timmy connolly into the all saints net. all saints then reacted by bringing expert talisman Paul McCann into the action and his impact was immediate, when a great run down the left wing by liam cassley was played into the box for the prolific paul mccann who instead left it for ciaran lemon to nod home the equaliser. all saints then took control and another run by liam cassley resulted in ryan quinn only clearing the ball to the oncoming paul mccann, who fired to the open net from 7 yards out. almost immediately it was 4-2 when again another run and cross by liam cassley fell to the enigmatic mccann, who fired low into the bottom right hand corner of the net from 18 yards, expertly wrong footing the northend keeper in the process. the game was effictively over 15 mins from time, when a brian watt free kick from all of 25 yards was rifled into the roof of the net past the despairing hands of his brother aidan watt in the northend goals. to northends credit however they kept plugging away and were rewarded for their hard work by two quick goals, one from paul macrory who got to a christopher smiley free kick that was drilled low and hard across the goals, then with a few minutes on the clock kevin higgins nipped in behind the all saints defence to tap in their fourth and leave a nervy few remaining minutes for the all saints men. however, despite all their hard work, northend couldn't find an equaliser and it is all saints who progress to round three.
