The wee man has retired. Only one word to describe him - Legend.
Zinedine Zidane said he was "the complete midfielder" and "my toughest opponent". He also said "Scholes is undoubtedly the greatest of his generation."

Just about to post this up mate.
What a career and what a professional even the biggest Liverpool fan must have huge respect for Scholes.
Rooney just said he's the best he played with or against he must of ruled the Barca team out tho ;D
On the coaching staff now, great stuff.

What a player and what a servant to the club!!
Think we have to look on the bright side, we have a ready made replacement in Darron Gibson ;D ;D
Favourite goal would have to be the volley from a corner against Villa a few seasons back....what a strike!!

I remember first seeing him play in the 1993 Youth Cup final. It turned out to be a joyful 18 years.
One goal I'll always remember is the strike against Bradford City at Valley Parade from Beckham's corner. Superb technique.
Thanks for the memories Scholesy.

What a role model for any young footballer...a player as good as him and was always talked about the good he did on the pitch and never nothing bad off it.

Only seeing this thread now Legend. Goal away to middlebro a good few years back. Ball came over from the right and the wee man whacked it from 25 yards with the outside of his right peg. The ball went like a missile into the top corner. Superb technique. Will be truely missed!

Great player but was never able to fill the boots of Paul Gascoigne at international level.
