Just seen Youngster posting the result a 3-1 defeat from a third division side even as a friendly this has to be worrying the management and wee joe.
I take rubberman started this match?
Any comments from the broadway camp?

4-1 pele,
Altho they may be entering the 3rd this season I really dont think they be in the div too long as they seem to have a very very strong team and they beat Ballycastle Utd 6-1 or something like it so I really fancy them for the div this season. Dont think this is their 1st season together either cause they played Northend last pre-season and beat them.
Dont be giving Broadway a hard time if you dont know the quality of opponent they came up against...

I take it you play for Northend Pele and you played them last week down at the Riada, I was chatting to their manager afterwards and he said they were short of a squad and had to try and round up a few players so they could put a team out against you and maybe yesterday they had a different team out with their regulars back I dont honestly know.
What you think of them Pele? Will they do well in the 3rd this season

We started with a strong side and then at half time completly changed it and gave our squad players a run out we really should of beat them 10 to be honest. To be fair to them they tried to play football if they have players to come in i'd say they will do very well in the third. They have a wee right winger blondish hair who will terrorise all defences in the third but he could possible play for someone else.

To be fair Pele they struggled to get 11 against Northend according to big McClean whereas this time they had a decent sized squad with a bit more quality. That, however isn't me saying they were unreal, they weren't!!! The most apparent thing is our collective fitness, it's terrible. Personnally, I came deep into our half to collect a clearence from our defence from a corner, played it to Farmboy and sprinted through to receive a ball from Donald where the ref blew me offside. That run totally burnt me out for about 10 minutes, disgraceful!!!! Our starting 11 yesterday was maybe seen as our strongest available at present with Donald playing, and playing well, but for me we have a few problems to iron out. That's what Joe, Dessie and Andy are doing, trying things, what pre season is for. Our options on the bench, for most part, are players who are young with NO experiance in a football. It's going to take time for them to adapt to playing. I never realised how much of an effect Sexton leaving would have on us. We are in serious need of a target man. With my cleveage I hardly get off the ground

Also to that, the only reason they are a third division team is because that's where they have to start. They won't stay there!!!! Defeat yesterday is nothing to get too concerned about. It's just trying to get players playing and trying ideas before it starts serious, although, it would be nice to have the perfect team and set up. Season only a week away FFS!!!!!

I disagree this near to the start of the season imo i would be playing my strongest side not messing about way boys that have never kicked a ball in there life and more than likely wont even figure throughout the season.

Thing is Pele, take them guys away and we're left with no squad. That's the way it is for us at present. My point was in order for us to change things at all yesterday we had no choice but to weaken the team with inexperiance. Not the lads coming on's fault, they are putting in great effort, That's just the situation we find ourselves in. Personnally I would be trying to stick my strongest team out and get them up to speed but I see what they're doing changing things. That was only our second friendly, maybe should of had more but you know that's hard to organise lots of games at this time of the year with available pitches etc.

I would usually say you may as well try these things out in pre-season, then if it doesnt work out then no harm done, far better than losing 3 points over it when the league starts. My own personal view for Broadway in this case is that you should also try to play the same kind of formation and squad rotation for the 1st week of the season, or at least until after you play Michelin next Wednesday, so hopefully when it doesnt work out again, you know 100%its not the way forward

Hi Lads
Our match on sat was just ur typical pre season friendly,i know we ran out 4.1 winners but both teams had alot of chances and were abit rusty but boardway gave us a very good game and in the 1st 20 mins had us under the cosh but like any new team its taking us abit of time to gel and know each other but with every game we're learning. The week b4 we played northend and got a good tankin but in our defence we had 7 definate starters not there and i was runnin round from 9 in the morning tryin to get a team gathered up we only had 12 players and our only sub was full drunk from the nite b4 and half way through the 1st half 1 of our player said he pulled a hamstring(he couldnt stand the heat and needed an excuse) so that left me having to play our GK at right back and a boy in goals who couldnt catch the cold but thats no excuse and even with our strongest team out we'd of struggled with them, they've some very very good players and if they were gettin there strongest team out every week id say they'll run the premier league very close

I think a halfway finish and a cup run would be realistic for us this year.

yungster summed this game up perfectly here in saying it was a typical pre season friendly!! we tried a new formation and way of playing which for majority of the first half worked with us creating chance and in 2-3 weeks time when we have more games under our belt the players would have taken the chances!! then dunloy scored from a throw when a man volleyed home from 20 yards out!! 2nd half we made alot of changes which you have to do in pre season, and we got back into the game, then dunloys fitness took over and they scored from a free kick and then we gifted them two sloppy goals late on and to be fair at this stage if it wasnt for our new keeper benny making a couple of excellent blocks it could have been more, but i do think that if we were to play the team again with both our strongest teams playing for majority of game that it would be alot closer!! and lets remember this team are only in the 3rd division due to being a new club so doesnt mean to say they are not as good as a 2nd or 1st division side!!
saturday may also turn out to be the best thing that happened us as a team cos it was a reality check of how much hard work we still need to do, and it wasnt all negatives on saturday as the new keeper was excellent and we got 70+ minutes out of donald which shows he is well on his way back to playing week in week out!!!
so not really too downhearted by saturday as the main thing is that we start winning games on monday week!!
