The 36-year-old hung up his boots at the beginning of the year after a glittering career that saw him win 14 major trophies with United - including eight Premier League titles and the Champions League - as well as 83 England caps. Neville proclaimed himself to be "thrilled" at being offered the job, and he is expected to work alongside former on-pitch rival Jamie Redknapp as one of the satellite channel's top pundits. But he will not be a popular choice for the role in some quarters, with a history of controversial incidents in his career. During a match against Liverpool in 2006 he ran the length of the pitch after Rio Ferdinand's late winner in order to celebrate in front of the travelling Reds fans. "Now I have retired this feels like the perfect way for me to stay involved in football," said Neville, a lifelong fan of the Red Devils. "I am looking forward to bringing my 19 years of match experience into television." Before he begins in his new role next season Neville will make one final appearance for United in his testimonial, which is to be played against Juventus at Old Trafford on May 24. Gray and Sky football anchorman Richard Keys were both fired earlier this season after a scandal erupted when the duo's sexist behaviour off-air was recorded and leaked onto the internet. |

Have to say, I've been very impressed with Gary since he joined the team.
Never thought I'd say it but he really knows his football and is IMO a great pundit!!!

was never that fussed on wee nev but could never doubt his loyalty and passion for utd. think he is a great tv pundit, talks alot of sense and so far think he has been very neutral and because of this think they miss keys in the studio more than gray...although miss gray commentating, ray wilkins is awful!

Was actually sittin watching thinking the exact same thing. Major improvement on his first MNF when he talked nothing but united before kick off. City v Swansea, which was the game about to be shown, got a mention about 2 mins before kick off!

Wish Chelsea would give him his old job back ;D I don't mind listening to him as a pundit at half time and full time cause he does know his footy and can talk alot of sense, but as a co-commentator he's brutal. Wilkins just spouts cliche after cliche..... i personally don't want the commentator reffering to players by their nicknames, and I couldn't give 2 fvuks what ashley Cole is like off the pitch
