They needed a team out of Wakehurst, the pitches just can't cope anymore. The guys at Wakehurst knew I was the only one that cared about Wakehurst from our team, I made that clear to them myself, it was left that if a team was to move then it would be either Westend or blackstone, at that time blackstone didnt go to any meetings to do with the pitches, they just turned up and played, so we were put forward by the guys at Wakehurst to the council/BSML & a few months later we were at the showgrounds. We owe a lot to The guys involved with wakehurst for getting us on a really good pitch at the showgounds That's a wee bit harsh on the rest of our team! Always liked Wakehurst but i think after 6/7 years there we just got annoyed with long winters with no matches and we seemed to be last in the pecking order when it came to getting allocated a pitch because it was done alphabetically! At least the showgrounds is beginning to feel like a proper home pitch at last cause we're playing on the same pitch every week!

there were opportunities to show how much the team cared about Wakehurst, like showing support and going to protests at the Town Hall, Ardeeven & The Milk Cup Final this year, but nobody from the team turned up! If we cared we would have been part of it, not being part of it showed me that we didnt care. I think that is a fair statement to make

I think we should phone Whiterock leisure centre on Friday and if they say the pitch is unplayable fro Saturday then there is no point traveling up to walk around for an hour or so then go home. Something tells me their manager would play on dundonald ice rink and wouldn't accept councils word and wait until a ref showed up to decide like last week ffs. If the leisure centre call it off then we should not play and get them up to the showgrounds! Only my opinion though.

if it's on 3g/4g then I'd say it will be on.....apart from the temperature there's not a hint of winter in Belfast!

Forecast is for snow on Friday afternoon I think so i'm not hopeful. Although surely there's something tempting about it being postponed this week and back at the Showgrounds next Sat. Would work out very well with our xmas do in the Blackstone after :-)

lol, the council had called the games off on the grass pitches on the friday, the pitches were frozen, the lines were not marked out, they had no nets for the goals. They spent the morning romoving snow from the 3g/4g pitch to reveal the lines on the pitch, only for them to find they were actually revealing lines that are used in gealic football, nobody could find an 18 yard box lol. The ref then said there 3g/4g pitch is not playable because it doesnt have an 18 yard box marked out and that it better be marked out for this week or the pitch will not be playable snow or no snow. To say he wasnt a happy man is funny, we travelled the whole way from Ballymena to see a pitch completely covered in snow at 12:30 when the match was to be kicked off at 1:30 which didnt even have proper markings on it, the game should have been called off earlier without us having to travel the whole way to Belfast, lets hope he has an 18 yard box marked out this week or i wont be a happy man

aye and the leisure centre had said both the 4g and grass pitches were unplayable so we weren't insured had we played it and it was advised that there should be no spectators as the teams would be liable should someone fall!!
Belfast is pretty clear now but unless they get the pitch marked out properly then we can't play. I'm not having a game which might be tight and some controversial decision made cause you can't see the 18 yard line!

Aye the ref said he would ref it but said to us if he was still playing no way would he play on that pitch without studded boots. He also said that if it went to extra time by the time they got the nets up and the game started it could be called off due to fading light. 2 sides to every story. I know a lad on their team and he understood the decision not to play.
