A very poor performance by Shore, but 3 points picked up anyway.
The match was very slow to start with the majority of play taking place in the middle third. Shore eventually managed to make inroads with Philly Sheridan and J P McCoy firing wide from good chances. Shore right-back Paul Donaghy then hit a shot from the half-way line which was tipped over the bar by the keeper.
Shore eventually made the break through when Phillip Sheridan found himself in space in the box and fired past the keeper to take the lead.
Shore extended their lead again 10 minutes later when Sheridan again found himself clear in the box and once again beat the keeper. Shore then became sloppy, giving the ball away and giving Demense plenty of possession. This continued into he second half when after 50 minutes John O'Reilly pulled down the Demense striker in the box and the ref gave a penalty which was successfully converted. Demense then continued to apply pressure on the Shore backline but couldnt get the breakthrough.
In the 89th minute Shore were awarded a free kick 30 yards out which Mackey hit straight into the top corner to make the score 3-1.
In all fairness i think Demense deserved a share of the points, but ill gladly take 3 points from such a poor performance. Too many Shore players thought this was going to be a walk in the park.
