Anyone know how roger jones is doing? Did he score on his debut for the reserves last week...thought he would have maybe made the squad at the weekend.

Yes Dowie, the fitness will come and then you'll be knocking the door. No doubt about that!! Thing I really noticed when I was a bit younger/better, I was playing for Broadway against the Homers one Saturday and the following week I was signed and starting against Cough Utd for Ballymoney and thought I was going to have a heart attack. My fourth game was against the Crues who were also in Division One that season and I had to come off at half time as they had totally burnt me out passing the ball round me. I signed for them mid feb and it took me until basically pre season to be as fit and able as the rest of them. We then played Cliftonville in a pre season friendly and I mind even watching them during their warm up never mind playing and it was obvious their fitness levels and conditioning were much higher than the level I'd got to. It will be tough getting to that level of fitness, especially when not playing the first team games but I think it's obvious when you are up to that level of fitness it won't be a problem as you obviously have the ability!!

Dobbie does run them into the ground granted, but I don't think any amount of running either on a field or on the road from Slemish to Wakehurst can prepare you for a competitive football match at that level.... Although I know what I'd be saying if someone stopped the car at Slemish, told me to get out and said I had 15 minutes to run to Wakehurst!! ;D ;D
