Excuse me if you spelling aint the best, but ive just been celebrating with a few shandys with the lads all night on becoming the McCauley cup winners for 2006/07.
Tight enough game tonight, we got a dodgy enough penalty to be fair to give us the lead, then we gave away a stupid penalty for Randelstown to equalise, and then scored the winner afer a defensve mistake 2 minutes after RAFC equalised.
Although RAFC hit the bar in the 2nd half, I think we deserved to win the game last night, we had the better chances and played the better football in reallly dificult conditions for both teams, and even several RAFC players admited that at the end of the game.
Game plan was to stop Speedy Cameron playing and to stop Dowie and Murray geting any service and it worked a treat.
Great way to end the season lads, great to lift the trophey!
On a personal front, I was gutted to miss the game due to a broken thumb, even though I was an unused outfield sub (I would have s**t myself had I came on!)
Well done all the Michelin boys!!

Well done Mich as a former player i would have to say its a long time since i seen a team so motivated and hungry as i witnessed last night. Seems the slleping giant of morning football has finally woken. Have to hand it to management who got it totally right tactically but then all the ones that doubted that side of Mich now have to eat their words or suck their sour grapes. Dont dwell on it build on it and i will support from the all weather end of the green grass M.A.C

you may have won this game but the match was crap. never seen such a negative game plan from a team. to go out and stop a team from playing football may have won you the cup but you will get no friends playinglike that. the referee was also a joke. the first penalty was never a penalty. your number 11 booted all night and wasnt booked or even spoken to whilst the randalstown players got booked on their first tackle. your man ned should never be allowed to referee a final. whistlehappy prick ruined the came imo. in saying that randalstown did not get going and as a spectator of rafc numerous timesthis season i think thats the worst they have played. steeks will reallyhave to change things for monday night if he going to progress through the playoffs

I was also up watching the game last night and in fairness i dont think anyone could have played good football with the conditions very difficult for both teams. I would say though that the ref was poor towards us(RAFC) but that is not taking anything away from Michelin who just got on with the game. Well done lads

The 1st penalty was harsh, but if the ref had shown some balls then Steeks could have been sent off 3 times in the game! Some of the tackles he put in were a disgrace and could have severly injured one of our players. Our number 11 stopped Cameron from playing the whole night, but unlike Steeks, he didnt go in and try to injure your players, he just stopped Cameron from getting running at him. We probably sat back too much when we were in the lead, but we were by far the better footballing team in the game, as many RAFC playeyers admitted. Surely stopping the opposition form palying their normal footballing gaem is part of how to successfully win a game. I would suggest you get your head out of your arse next time you watch a game and admit Michelin deserves to win the cup!!!

Mitty, just have to pull you on a couple of things. Firstly you won the game and fair play to you boys.
I don't think either team played good football. It was a sh1t game to watch.Playing more or less 5 at the back, you played to catch us on the break and again to be fair that worked a treat for you.
On your player who marked Speedy, who is a good player by the way, hit Speedy within 30 seconds of the game. That was his game plan. The ref said nothing. He continually spoiled Speedy's play by fouling him, admittedly not dirty fouls but he committed more fouls than any other player but yet he wasn't even spoken to never mind being cautioned. Chris, who gave away the penalty with a dubious push was booked. And you guys didn't even know it was a penalty. Leaky who came on as a sub and fouled Orsy in a tackle (not malicious) was booked. I too thought the referee was very inconsistent, as for Steeks, well he plays hard and expects players to give him a hard game, like him or loathe him he'd play in my team all day long, but as I have already said, congratulations on winning the cup. No one remembers the game, nor the referee, nor the losers.......just the winners mate.....well done again.

Both immediately after the match and on the Forum. I think it must be hitower's time of the month!! At first glance of the "quoted" post, i thought it was going to read: You may have won this game, but you won't win the war!! I'll get you Austin Powers!! ha ha ha! ;D ;D

LOL.....
Watched the game mesel coves, have to say thought it was a sh1te game, enjoyed Speedy sliding over to celebrate in front of the Michelin sideline, for Michelin to go straight back up the field and score the winner and then seeing his big red coupon, weak funny!!! Some dirty tackles on both sides but how Steeks stayed on the pitch I'll never know!!
Both teams gave their all and agree with which ever one of ye that said RAFC were good losers, they were quite sporting in that respect!!!!
Well done to both clubs!!

No one remembers the game, nor the referee, nor the losers.......just the winners mate.....well done again. Cheers Bremner. It was an awful game to watch for sure! The weather was as much to blame as anything. To be honest our game plan was to play 2 wing backs (both are naturally 2 widemen) and the plan was to get them forward as much as possible, just the way things worked out they had to sit deeper as youse had to chase the game when we were ahead both times. IMHO when it was 0-0, I thought we edged it and we were the team who had the best chances to score, Orrsy and big Gaz missed chances when they were both one on one. When we were ahead we did sit back too much which gave you the chance to throw more forward. As Ive mentioned to you Bremner a couple times, I think you are the best attacking team in the league, but you are not as strong at the back as you are going forward, and we fancied oursleves scoring at least a couple goals adn we would win the game if we kept in tight at the back. A big big part of your attacking ability is Speedy, so we tried to stop your key man from influecing the game by stopping him fromgetting the ball, and if he did get the ball to stop him for running at our defence, where he will then hurt teams. Admittedly he was fouled a good few times, but there was not a bad tackle on him. I honestly didnt think our penalty was a penalty either, so that along with your number 4 (who is a cracking player, I assume he played higher league a few years back?) who hit the bar, we got the 2 main pieces of luck. In saying that, we had 2 or 3 good chances in the 2nd half on the break which we should have taken that would have finished the game. IMO opinion we had the best player on the park that night in McQuitty (number 4). He was head and shoulders above most around him. Yer man Steeks in the last game we played you was the best player on the pitch, broke everything up and was good on the ball too. My only problem with him is that he goes in to challanges late , shows his studs and , in other words tries to hurt players. I dont mind palyers who are hard but fair, in fact theres nothign better when you hit a crunching tackle, but the way he goes in at time, theres just no place for. I dont know how he wasn't sent off that night. Also that night, there were two tackles on him, and he reacted to both, one in fact which resulted in a headbutt between him and our sub (I wont finger point who was to blame cause I think they both put there heads in!). If he can tackle like that, he has got to take it when he get's hit like that back. To be fair though, he came round to shake our players hands after the whistle, which everyone respects, hard thign to do soemtimes, especially after getting beat in a final. Typical BSML referring performance that night, you can boot allaround you and not get booked or sent off, but you will get booked for talking back to him or something silly like that! Neds not the worst around, but it wasnt his finest night as a ref Im sure! Amyway Brmener, good luck for the play offs.
