Squiggs that day was outstanding in defence and he's really the only player I really remember apart from the goal. Stan - I don't care what anyone else says, I've always thought you had great football knowledge and knew what you were talking about.  I'd say the best players I've played against are Aaron Wilkinson from Cullybackey and Smiley. Think we're lucky to have some good players of our own especially that Quigley lad, total footballer. |

Jeez Lads, you dont half bandy about the term 'great player' on here, a little dose of reality wouldnt go a miss As for top goalscorer in the league, as smiley has scored x amount of goals in the first division would they not carry on into our league? and therefor make him the top scorer? Cant see how it shouldnt as obviously the 1st division is a higher standard than the 3rd, also think wee rev if he had stayed with us would have ended up top scorer in the division by a 'country mile'..just has a knack of racking up big tallies. and just to make a point on the topic on which this thread was actually started, we were very relieved to come away on saturday having won so comfortable, as turfcutter will tell you we actually had a conversation on the way out to the pitch on saturday how we felt it was going to be one of those days were nothing goes right and we would struggle, but we were fortunate that lisnafillan scored and OG to break the dead lock having offered stern resistance for the first 15- 20 minutes. |

I think big Butch Dingle Smiley had something like 19 in the first and left early November. Some going!! When you switch teams you leave your goals elsewhere behind you so Smiley is nowhere near top goalscorer. Smiley can't be player of the year as he's hardly played. That isn't what we were talking about though when we were talking about BEST PLAYER in the division. Honestly, some of the lads mentioned, Teflon etc are good players and he especially has had a very respectable career at local level and they deserve credit. As for Smiley, seriously, he's without doubt the most gifted footballer in the division and one of the best individuals in all three. If he hadn't been a very easily lead young man in his early days I have no doubt he'd be earning good money in football. He ruined it by being a total rocket!!! It's all ifs and buts where Smiley's concerned but anyone who has played regularly with or against him (providing they're anyone with any football knowledge) will vouce for the fact that he is a total waste. Wee Ryan Brady was considered a waste years ago before he discovered the word "party" and I'd tend to agree but of anyone I've known Smiley was the most gifted. A few Irish League coaches thought he would go far but you know what happened next!!! LOL, space cadet!!!! |

Maybe a cup game if we get drawn against each other but definately no more league games, westend won the 2 league games, we cant do any better than that, the first one was a last minute winner, 4-3, the second one in Dunloy, they were well beat 3-0 could have been more, they had an off day. A cup game against Dunloy would give them the chance to have a good day  maybe it will happen, who knows! |

Afraid they wont count. The award is for Division 3 top scorer. ie. goals scored in division 3 league games. Only league goals count. Not cup matches AFAIK. Also if someone scored a s**t load of goals then left, if noone tops that then he'll still get the award even if hes playing for another team. |

having played against most of the players mentioned earlier i would in my opinion def say smiley is by far the best player in the division by a long way
as for the result, it was shocking from us, dunloy are a far better team but we will move on as always
it is nice to see all the westend players being more confident these days, after 7 years of being crap they might just finally have a good team, fair play to them
rab can u get your head any further up teflon's ass?i know he bullied squiggs earlier in the season but im sure he wont do it to u

I suppose thats fair enough weasel, in my opinion actions speak louder than words, they deserve to be labelled the best in the league because according to the league table they are, thats my opinion and as a dunloy player i think it holds a bit of merit, but yes i take on board what your saying. |

Well having watched Dunloy alot this year i really think Big blonde barry and youngster r super players they make dunloy tick they do the dirty work of winning the the ball back for the likes of murphy and smiley,theres top notch together,its not coincedence that in there 1st game back together in months they win 7-0 but as for the best players in the division thats a hard 1 Big turf is 1 of the best defenders in the league murphys scored 22 goals from left wing big smiley is a super big player From the others teams id have to say Wee watson of westend is a great wee player they've got a couple i remember but dnt know there names Big Phil of the swifts is a real good centre half dosen't give an inch big zola knows where net is Aaron wilkinson of cullybacky is a very good player theres plenty out there its all a matter of opinions yeah danaldo every team needs a couple of eejits to do all the running for the glory boys!! dont know how much longer my legs will keep goin, wake up on sundays feelin like ive just got a kickin |

Looking forward to playing you by the way, we'll not be needing any team talk put it that way. And another thing keyboard warrior, like most good teams any bad feeling is forgotten about afterwards. Teams playing for something tend to have fallouts.  |

I know very little about the third but i'd like to see a player in the division thats better than Aaron Wilkinson or Smiley both of them really should be playing in the first.
Smiley is a machine when it comes to scoring goals i'd like to bet if he had of started for Dunloy he'd have scored 50 goals this season.
