still no word from any1 on the outcome of lesley gate!! the jury must still be out!! No meeting last night. Talk of Monday night now which will be tight if the Junior Shield semi is to be played next week. Does this "situation" apply to both the shield and cup or is it just the cup?

Can't see what the problem would be if the guy hasn't played for any other teams in the competition TBH. Great to see a BSML team doing so well in these competitions. Well done to Dobbie and all at Carniny and lets hope common sense prevails!

'IF' say carniny are expelled from both competitions, do the teams they defeated in their quarter finals proceed to the semi's or do the teams they are supposed to play in the semi's i.e. Ardoyne and Immaculata go straight to the finals?

Post by cocky on Mar 12, 2010 14:35:13 GMT
Yes both teams will go straight into the finals of the competitions as the teams Carniny put out in the 1/4 Finals didnt put in a protest. I have heard that the county antrim fa wants to put them out but the IFA wants to keep them in and they are both now arguing over this and also Immaculata have a protest in against Carniny.

Hmmm...its certainly going to be very interesting on the outcome of this debacle...from a BSML perspective it would be a disappointment with carniny having done so well...a possible final in one of the competitions would have looked great for our league. None the less it would be even more disappointing for the carniny players having got so far in both cups not to get the chance to play. I for one would hate to see them expelled as i do believe they will win one of them, however, rules are rules and it will test how strict both the IFA and Co. Antrim FA are with this situation. I personally dont see the fuss with it all and think it would be extremely harsh should they get punished, but i do see the points from both sides of the fence

watching them a v odd time is diff from being up there arses like the rest of u"s ;D If being a friend of Dobbie since primary school and both playing for the school team and junior teams like wakehurst growing up and knocking about together after school and also him asking me to come and give him a hand to help run Carniny football team after I had stopped playing in the BSML means that I am up his arse then I am guilty as charged. The meeting couldn't take place this week as on every evening they couldn't get enough delegates to hold the meeting. It is scheduled for Monday evening providing they get enough attending members.

Need to wait until those in "authority" make a decision but my reading of the rules suggests that Carniny were guilty of nothing else than interpreting the rules in a way that they felt they should be interpreted. If the IFA or any body else can interpret them in any other way then the rules are wrong. When a rule can be interpreted 2 different ways then neither party can be guilty of any wrongdoing. Think it should be a case of them (IFA) realising that the rules are not clear enough, allowing Carniny to proceed and then for next year ensuring that the rules are made clearer. At the end of the day if the rule was so cut and dry then Crumlin Star would have had a protest in, the IFA would have kicked Carniny out for breaking the rules and the competition would progress. End of. Dont think we should go blaming the IFA for the lack of thought put into the rules - sure UEFA never even considered that a team might win the Champions League in the same year that they didnt do enough to qualify for it the following year as defending champions - Liverpool 2005.

Nothing to do with with Immac. Only time a protest could go in would be when Carniny are in breach of rules after playing and if its a rule that has been cleared up (which it will have to be) before the semi has been played then they will look rather foolish putting a protest in. Would be surprised anyway that a team with the experience of Immaculata would not just get on with playing the game. I doubt they will care about Carniny until they have to play them in the semi.

Sorry Raj - I agree with Quack Quack - you are guilty How very dare you be friends with Dobbie from when you went to Primary School. You should have went to a different school in case this situation ever arose - shame on you Raj. Here if you see me up the street with my leg hanging off, make sure you don't stop to help me - don't want anybody thinking you would be up my ****.

I really hope Carniny get to stay in both the Junior cup and Shield as I know the effort it takes to get to the semifinals , and they have the best wishes from the Sky Blues in there fight to stay in them , any team worth there salt that plays in our League should , rivals or not recognize there achievement's in reaching this stage of not one but two competitions and hope also they remain in them , but I have a bad feeling about all this especially Junior cup rule 4 clearly states , a player registering with his Club after the 31st December in any season will not be eligible to play in this Competition. If they look at it that once Leslie left Carniny he was no longer registered as there player and when he returned to register for them it was after the 31st December then I fear the worst for them
