Now that the IFA have passed this.
Not too sure if the Council would allow the BSML to be played on a sunday, but if by any chane the option was there to play, would you be willing to play on the sabbeth?!
This should be interesting!!

I would prefer to still play on the saturday personally.
Surely the league would have to consider a name change too lol

yes if it was the case that some bsml matches were played on a sunday i would be quite willing to play but would prefer it to stay on a saturday morning. I think the standard of the league may be affected though cos Saturday is everyones night out i suppose.
Think the irish league should benefit though if no other football is played on a Sunday because crowds are obviously affected by the amount of football played on a Saturday afternoon. If Irish league was on a Sunday I for one would go to more games.

I would agree with harty on this one. Think they should move the Irish League football to a Sunday and I would have no doubt crowds would go up......anyone whos interested in football are playing on a Saturday. However, think they should keep the junior football on a Saturday. f**k hard enough getting boys up on a Saturday morning.....Sunday morning after a night on the drink......well dont think that would work. ;D

When you move Irish league games to a sun you come up against the sky games. Usually 2 or 3 prem games and one old firm game on tv each sunday. Cant see it benefiting the Irish league. Personally i feel all non IFA affiliated leagues should be played on a saturday morning and this should free up more people to go to games. The game here needs a complete overhual from top to bottom

At least if it's on saturday you only have to worry about who's been out on the rip on the friday night. If you move it to Sundays as well then you'll have the worry of who's been on the rip all weekend!!
As Cujoaks said, it's a tradition the way it is now. Match on saturday morning then a days lushind watching the scores come in!!!
Carlsberg don't do saturdays and all that ya know!!

id prefer a sunday, cause friday night is when i hit the beer hard.
would free up saturdays to watch celtic or clifitonville play and for other lads to go and see other games to such as the bloos or gurns. but then i know a lot of our lads tend to go on the beer on sundays from saturday nite so it could be even harder to get a squad together.
i think the whole sunday thing is based more on CIL games more than anything.
a lot of talk and views on it on the ILSF

Would be better if the games were moved to a Sunday and do what happens over in Scotland and England that the games kick off on the afternoon, means then the drink should be out of the system and would free you up for what Mower says to watch the Scottish Champions play or Man Utd etc!!
Its a hard one to say either way, there is always the lads who would be out drinking anyway!!

Yeah i agree, though at the end of the day, drink is no excuse, either you want to play football or you don't. It's simple really aint it..??

End of the day mate its only a game of football, too many people think they are going to make it in the big time playing on a Saturday morning at 20+ years, need to get steaming the night before and go out and kick a bit of football then die afterwards before hitting another lush!! lol

best thing to bring the crowds back to the irish league games, is to play them over the summer months, and have a break over the winter/christmas period, nothing worse than watching a match and it freezing cold or pissing.

I also agree with that, a summer league would be so much better, like they do in the south!

Big problem is you lose on on the boxing day games, which for all clubs in the league draw in the biggest crowd of the season.

f**k it, I'd rather play/watch during the summer than during the freezing winter. The Fat Paul makes a very valid point there!!!

Sunday football does through up a scenario about internationals. As you all are aware, currently if the GAWA are playing at Windsor, all games in Junior football are called off. We have seen over the last couple of months that this is becoming more frequent and honestly more ridiculous, especially as they have started calling midweek games off for U21 games. Does this mean that when the internationals are at home, BSML games could be moved to a Sunday to accomodate this and ensure that teams that get a cup run or two dont have 26 games a week to play for 8 weeks at the end of the season.
