This will be a very important match for us . Looking at the league table this week you can see why.If you can beat the teams around you it does help

Randalstown 3 2 Castletown should have won this game easier that the scoreline shows. Two terrible goals from are point of view always kept Castletown in the game. Two players in the team in key position had real disappointing games, this problem will be addressed for next week ,with Ryan Logan and Gerry McGovern both available. Big Michael Magill had a very pleasing debut at center half and only will get better. The 2nd goal we scored was for me the highlight of the game, very clever play from Willy McKitt and a great finish from John Kitson. Randalstown have a lot of work to do to stay in the 1st ,but every win takes us closer to achiving this .
The Team
1 Mark Dougan 2 Richard Craig 3 Jason Miller 4 David Waddell 5 Michael Magill 6 Barry Mott 7 Brian Surgenor 8 Richard Ewart 9 John Kitson 10 Willy McKitt 11 Neill Fullerton
Subs Merv Crawford, David McCracken, Kenny French

Was down watching this game yesterday and I have to say a very poor performance from Castletown........certainly not the team they were last year. The Reds were in control for long periods but did not have that many clear cut chances. All in all a scrappy game and I think both teams must raise the standard if they want to stay in the first. The hi-light of the morning was the craic on the side line. The banter from Sky Blues, Athletic and reds players was great. I also got to hear a team talk from the legend himself.... ;D ;D

bit scrappy but i thought we were worth the win. there not all going to be vintage performances but we're happy with a win.
dont worry bremner we're capable of much better.
and good to see a big crowd down.

Young Merv came on with 25 minutes to go. To be honest, he looked of the pace. I too rate the young lad, think he has massive potential......... Maybe it was because of his injury he was off the pace, or maybe he just cant link up with Kitson........ cause not even Kitson knows what hes going to do... ;D Lots to come from young Merv I think in the future.

yes i agree he has a lot of potential, someone was saying he is enjoying the football with you guys. keep him at it and i think you will get a lot out of him , he can be sometimes be very quiet on the pitch he just needs to be a bit more vocal.. although im sure you have found hes not that quiet of the pitch haha

Would sign young Merv in an instant. ;D Think if he gets the right guidance he will do fine......whether or not he will get that is debatable.

Hi Conyer as someone who is qualified to speak on Randalstown F C matters, and who no's the ins and outs of the workings of the team. Young Merv is a quality player who has not got the best of runs with us since jointing the mighty Reds. His debut was against Homers where he played wide left in our 2 2 draw . Then came the Jui Shield match against Raveview Wanders, Merv was not registered in time for it .As well as that Merv has been cup tied for to match's in the O'Kane cup and will again miss our Semi Final against Homers this Sat Week Merv picked a injury up against Galgorm but played on, then the next Sat against Ahoghill Thistle he had to come off. Merv only started back training last Mon night, where the pain of the injury has gone but the fitness is not there yet He was so keen to play on Sat but I don't want to rush him back to soon, but that will be the managers and players decision Merv is every manager dream, he simply loves football I honestly think we will not see the best of Merv to the start of the new year, but Merv is so committed to Randalstown F C it is a big plus for us.

the young lad is cetainly commited to your team i havnt spoken to him myself in a while but i have heard he is enjoying being with you boys. hes a great lad and still very young i have watched him play at both connor rangers and connor fc played out of his skin for both teams, i know we havnt seen the best of young merv and if he plays anything like his uncle colin then you have a committed and reliable player.

John is well into double figures for the season in his first year in the 1st. I do not like my Randalstown players being talked about in a negative ways, maybe thats why few will be standing on your door step

Wouldnt say his tap in on Saturday was top drawer....the build up yes, but the finish no. And anyway, you would be surprised what Randalstown based players will be playing for me in the future.......dont under estimate me or Athletic Brian. Never say never

Was down watching this game on Saturday and although it wasnt the best game I ever watched, I thought the Reds deserved there win, as they bossed most of the game ,B Surgenor was the best player on the park before he took a nasty one that left him with a dead leg ,Thought Mckittrick and Kitson played well together up front and that ball he put Kitson through for the second goal ,as big Army said to me after the game, you cant teach that to a player ,shear class . Castletown who still have some decent players had there moments in the match too especially early second half ,but missed Willy Brown quality big time ,Thought Weedo had a good game at the back ,as did Jay Millar and I was very impressed by the new guy in his first game , The Reds have put together a hard working and organized wee team ,who will be no push over for anyone ,and lets face it, most of the players have played 1st division before and in Mark Duggan have probably the best keeper in the League so its no surprise to me that they are more than holding their own
