see sam foster there wats wrong hes actually going to a game Robin, Sam really has been available for alot of match's but with big Davy Reid there most weeks we really just didn't bother with him , where as tomorrow we are trying something out . It is a game that we are not expected to win and with know pressure on us at all we can enjoy it'' but what that noise I hear ''Come on the Reds!! |

After checking the River Plate pitch early this morning it was game on!!
Match report
Before the team went out onto the pitch this morning Jacko had a good word with alot of the players infect they where nearly boiling at one stage.
The game started with both team having the ball in midfield alot and with the backfour of the Reds dealing with ever half chance Carniny had to offer.
Sam Foster in the Reds goal in the 1st half really only had to deal with free kicks and goal kicks which meant that are defense and mid where doing there jobs well .
Big Davy Reid at 6 foot 7 up front was giving Carniny plenty to think about but also the Carniny goalkeeper had not many saves to make either I most say the 1st half ended pretty even
Half time 0 0
The 2nd half started with the Reds giving it a real good go with David Waddell pulling the stings in midfield and sending John Kitson threw who selected not to hit it first time and the chance went bagging.
The Reds had two or three more half chances before Carniny did get there 1st goal with about 15 min to go against the run of play ( in my view ) it probably was are 1st laps the whole game .Stephen Dripps went of then with a bad groin to be replaced by Scott Taylor and up to that was one of are best players .
Carniny got there 2nd goal 5 min from time after M McNally lost his man and the ball was squared for a shot into the net.
On this performance the Reds can hold there heads high they did Randalstown F C proud and if they can take this performance into there own league campaign the future could look bright.
Also I would like to thank Carniny for a very sporting game and to wish them well in the next round

Unlucky today lads. You certainly can hold your heads up and take a lot from your performance. For me, they just had that we bit of extra know how to win the game. You gave them a good game and for me Weedo and young Kitson were excellent. Was down supporting you today along with other Athletic players and officials........ weedo, you know Athletic, that other Randalstown team ;D. Hopefully we will have the same support reciprocated now that we are the only Randalstown team flying the flag in this competition. Well done Brian, good performance.......have taken notes  ;D |

Yes bremner we do appreciate the support we got this morning and i am sure Weedo and Kitson weren't the only two players that you noted. I am sure the phrase that you are famous for look into my eyes and round the eyes will be tried many times ;)before the start of next season and i will certainly not hold it against you for trying but i must say the legend has Incorporated a resilience in his young players now we will be looking out for your result in your next cup match i think it could be for the last 16. |

My notes were of course meant as a joke, but I wasn't referring to one or two players. I was joking about taking notes about the whole team and the way you play so when we play each other I can get the tactics right.......but as I say it was a joke. To be really honest Brian and no disrespect meant here, but you have very few players in your team that I would be interested in. You have some very good young talent who will mature and no doubt will improve, but I want players who can do it now, today. It is no secret I was after Weedo before he signed for the Reds, but he wont sign for me cause he only thinks there are two reams in Randalstown ;D....... kidding, but he did say that he thought the Reds had a better chance of going up. He is probably correct but we were at the bottom, played 8 games and had 3 points so at that stage it wasn't hard to work that one out ;D. Next year will be a different story. Getting back to your game today. Thought the wee guy Andy Hart played well. He has had a lot of stick on this site, but as I said, thought he done well. Young Mott was muscled out of the game. McKitterick was cool and showed his experience. It was also good to see you put on the young players. Difficult time for them, but at least you gave them a go. I had alittle word with him about a month ago and it gone right to his heart!!, but had a really good game today as did all the back four epically Willy McKitt and Stephen Dripps. Young Barry Mott would normally play on the wing with great results for us but today was a one off for him in the middle. Peter the great Hurrell worked his balls of and played nearly at left back for alot of the match and Weedo!! what can I say drive and commitment in buckets. I feel today Jacko got his tactics spot on yes we did loss the game but feels like we won. Bremner you say you want players who can do it now thats fine you have more experience than me in running a team I have none other than what I have pick up from the legend I will help in what ever way I can the rest of the season and then see what happens. For the record Brian, I have never managed a football team before Athletic, so it all new to me. I think we both have different agenda's within our own teams. Mine is to get to the first, stay in it and win something. To do that you need a big experienced squad, yours......... well dont think I should say on here what your agenda is ;D ........ "skyblue Ribbon and all that" ;D |

I think most people invoved in the Randalstown footballing scene will agree with me when i say its about time steksy shut his mouth and stopped all this sh!!e! If he would worry more about his own team and less about the 2 other teams in Randalstown maybe they would be further up the league and that is no disrespect to them as i have alot of good friends who are involved with athletic. Not only that but hes making a complete prick of himself as everybody in Randalstown knows James picks the athletic team on a Saturday morning hes only a trainer and a person who has been around so many clubs he might be able to poach a few subs off! Theres little point slateing two teams steksy that you were a bit part player for! Nobody recognised you as a good footballer and nobody will recognise you as a good manager every team in antrim knows it and it wont be long until everybody in Randalstown knows it. Bring back Daffy, admire the Raineys and look in awe at the LEGEND!
