ACE CUP
MARCUS IN THE GOALS
Braid United 6 Waterside Villa 1
Braid turned in another good all ound performance to dispose of Third Division Waterside. Braid got off to a flyer after 30 seconds when Clifford Marcus raced behind the Villa defence to score. Ten minutes later it was 2-0 when Willie Douglas fired home during a goalmouth scramble. Braid appeared to sit back on this lead and let Villa play. Neeson Adair took advantage of a mix up in the Braid defence to pull back a goal. Marcus restored Braid's two goal lead when he shot home just before half time. United were playing against a strong wind in the second half but they started off were they had finished in the first - on the attack. They got their reward for their pressure when Marcus completed his hat trick. Braid were well on top and acored the goal of the match when the ball came of a Villa defender to Colin Wallace on the edge of the penalty area and he hit an unstoppable volley to the net. Marcus, who had tortured the Antrim side, finished off the scoring late on with a shot which found the net via the cross bar.
