Some battling performance from the Waveney against a strong Ahoghill Rovers side.
Waveney went a goal down around 15 minutes into the first half, but never gave up. Darren Wilson and Colin Corry came close but the Rovers keeper denying them both times! Ryan Burnett also cleared an awesome shot off the line close to the end of the half.
Half Time - Waveney 0 - 1 Ahoghill Rovers
Waveney started the half with the same heart, and kept fighting away until the equaliser was scored by Stephen Dowds on his debut. A well taken goal by the left winger.
Waveney took the lead 10 minutes later when Shane Neeson sent a lovely ball through the middle from a free kick which Burnside slotted home! ;D
Rovers fought back and got the equaliser 5 minutes later, but Waveney kept the heads up and got their third through a cracking finish from Colin Corry.
Overall a brilliant turn-around from last week from the Waveney, with a better fighting spirit and heart form the lads. Our midfield were outstanding, with Geoff Tweed and Jay Stephens both running their guts out!!
C'mon the Swifts!!
