I have been associated with the Sky Blues for over 25 years as a player,and played with H Talbot ,D Winter and the Logan Bro, funny I was just talking to Alex today about a few things, and asked him, if he had the choice of all the players in Randalstown, would the Sky Blues be a lot stronger of a team. His answer was a big "Yes!"
With three teams in Randalstown all competing for first division status this will never happen. Also the Sky Blues and Athletic are draining a lot of the good players in Antrim as well. The Randalstown F.C are the only team in the town at the min that really is all Randalstown players, in no way is this an offense to any of the other two teams in Randalstown. I have been helping run Randalstown F.C this season and the state of affairs at the min are the Sky Blues narrowly missed out on a top 4 spot once again! were as we are fighting for survival in the first division tomorrow night against Galgorm and I would like to ensure you that managing any team is no easy job! and I have the up most respect for "All people!" who voluntarily give up their precious time to create a service to the community.

Yet another disappointing season at the sky blues. I have to say I have grown up watching the sky blues and it pains me to see them finishing with no trophies this season and also missing out on the top four. TBH I think it is time for us to look to someone else to manage. The players have absolutely no respect for the current manager. They have no heart in the club either. The players from Antrim brought in this year looked as if they didn't want to play for the club. Long gone are the days of men like Logan brothers, Harris Talbot and Dessie Winters. I like big Alec as a person but he has lost the changing room and I just don't see him recovering the respect of the players now. He should do the honorable thing and take a step back and let someone else have a go. Paul Quigley should also go. I caught the second half of the Abbeyview - Athletic match on Monday night. I was absolutely shocked when I looked down the line to see Paul Quigley wearing an Abbeyview tracksuit top!! Any sky blue man will tell you that it was out of order. Flesh blood will hopefully bring in some young randalstown players who will fight tooth and nail for the club as it has gone very stale. I don't particularly like the Athletic team but there seems to be a constant buzz around their team, which saddens me because it used to be this way around the sky blues team of the nineties. Would like to hear what other sky blue men think or is it just a few of the loyal supporters that think this way? Would also like to hear who would be a good choice of manager to replace the big man if he should step aside? I would personally like one of the former players getting a crack at it or maybe Jackie Burrows who is at a loose end with Abbeyview. And guys, please keep this thread sensible unlike some of the others I have read over the past week or two. After sleeping on this I can't believe you are a Sky Blue supporter. |

Have to agree with zippy mate your def talking through your backside. Alex rainey is an absolute legend within the randalstown district and a very well respected man through out the football circle , I think 25 years as a player and manager and to never finish in the bottom half of league is an unbelievable achievement . Year after year this man keeps giving youth a chance and at the same time is still competitive . Taken into account the number of players he lost the services of this year, i think finishing 5th and missing out on the top four by a point is no big disgrace . On that point of players leaving the blues to play at a higher level , that is perfectly fine but a majority of the players who did leave were left lanquishing in the reserves of moyola . These players were to good to be playing at that standard and i have no doubt if they had of offered their services to the blues , then the would have been a force to be reckoned with . But credit has to go to alex again as he just puts his head down and gets on with . Well done alex .  |

Answer to your question is sam neil , mark waddell and gareth mott . mark waddell was the only one to get a decent run in the team and chris dowie from RAFC was another one left in the reserves.

as an outsider lookin in it seems that the players must shoulder a gr8 deal of responsibility 4 the season past,gud players didnt play enuf gud games on a constant basis and the lapse of concentration gave weak goals away.i dnt fink messrs Rainey n Quigley cud be blamed 4dat,altho theyl ave to take it on the chin n get the finger owt asap.
