Dont know why I didnt put this thread on sooner.
Gavin Smyth signed for Templepatrick in my first season in charge, Season 2001/2002.
He was a super player who played up front, scoring many vital and superb goals for the TFC.
He left the whole of the 3rd division and indeed the Saturday Morning League in shock when he died suddenly on the 22nd February 2003, 2 weeks after his 20th birthday.
We were romping the 3rd division that year, sitting top of the table for almost all of the campaigne, and eventually gained promotion, which we felt we needed to do, and dedicated to him.
A player that will never be replaced at Templepatrick.
The No.9 shirt still is and will remain retired from the dressing room, although his memory never will.

Gav was a speical person and everyone has said that. I knew Gav through the TFC and was a Old boy when he joined. Always had a smile on his face no matter playing or out on the rip. Young Gav has touch everyone who has played for the team and it shows. Everyone who plays for the team knows what the team stands for and who we play for. Gav am sure we shall see you soon mate RIP

Gav was TFC in the heart and now he's in the TFC's heart. Sorely missed as a friend and player. No one will, more to the point no one could replace Gav. The wind beneath the TFC's winds and we look to soar higher than before. RIP
