Think its fair to see that Tommy Irvine has been an inspirational captain for Massereene Swifts so far this season. Performance wyse he has been going from strength to strength. Most notably with a fantastic display against Michelin picking up the referees nomination hands down. For me a captain is someone who drives the team on, looks out for the younger players, and is a lead figure who players can look up to. Of course the captain also needs to give players that little lift and chat when they're heads are down, but as well as that there is the calming down of hot headed players, who like to get themselves a little too involved sometimes. Over the past few weeks I have seen Tommy do all of this. His commitment to the team has also been good, never missing a session. Definitely worth the Massereene armband
