Massereene swifts face Clough Rangers this week in a bottom of the table clash. Of late our football has been good, with good performances all over the park. From last weeks team though, there will be changes, forced. Injuries to Andy Cupples (Ankle ligaments) who has been outstanding in the last 2 games, forcing him to the sidelines Paul Alerdice, has also been carrying a groin strain, and although trained last night, may still be a bit off, as the pain although eased, is still there. Drew Miller, another inspiration over the last 2 games with Wes Allen, carry injuries. Drew with a bruised back (aka ripped tights ;D) and Wes Allen with a sore toe or something ;D which he broke in our away fixture with Lisnafillan. There are places up for grabs, and with players like Rab Crawford playing well, closely followed by Johnny Thompson there will be better things to come. Come on the Swifts!

If we can play as we have been theres a good chance. We deserved something out of the Seven Towers game, and Michelin also got more than they bargained for, so i'm optimistic. With the right team out of course

I'm fair to credit yous with the never give up attitude yous showed that day, so play fair. We maybe deserved to share the spoils, but we defo deserved something, and I think you'll find your team mates agreeing with that

Drew Miller the lastest player to withdraw from saturdays squad, still with a badly bruised back.
The way things have been going, chances to impress will be handed out to those waiting in the ranks.
Another good performance expected of veteran Winnie Ward who shared the nomination with Mylesey last saturday with a very impressive perofrmance at the heart of defence with Tommy Irvine.
The back 4 will be forced into change this week with Andy Cupples out (Ankle Ligaments).
Midfield will change with Drew 'Energy' Miller forced into resting, as well as Aaron Myles being unavailable for selection.
We'll see now what sort of depth and carachter is in the squad with key players missing, as a result is must needed!

Squad available for tomorrow is as follows:-
The Kev Ally Cuppels The Moore Tommy Irvine Wes McFarland The Snipes Jason Hemphill Jonny Stevenson Jonny Thompson Rab Crawford Paul Alerdice Winnie Ward Alan McDowell David Brownlees Sam Davidson
Too many missing to list.
Still happy enough with the squad for the task, and expect the same enthusiasm and drive as I've seen over the past while!

pugford you said a couple of days ago yous deserved to win, now you are saying yous at least deserved a point. the better team won last saturday mate. Dude, I was staking a claim in a dispute. Your team mate said we didn't deserve anything against yous. So I said we at least deserved a point. Just a statement in that dispute. I personally feel we should have had all 3, as yous were second best that day.

Disappointing result for us again on saturday.
First half we weren't at it. Allowing Clough too much room to play. They went one up, when a cross come shot caught Kev out, as it seemed to be going over, only to end up dipping under the bar.
It was 2.0 before the break.
Second half seen Massereene play the better stuff, and go close on a number of occasions.
Clough continued to play some decent stuff as well, and it was an open enough half. Chances falling to both sides.
Last 20 minuets though Massereene found themselves more and more room, and were camped in Cloughs half. Chance after chance went begging, when we should of scored 4 or 5!
Over all a very disappointing game which we needed to get something out of.
A plus point after the game was the fact that Karl Yates, previously manager of the club will possibly resign, which would no doubt help out with the leaking of goals.
Some good never give up performances coming from The Moore, Winnie Ward and Tommy Irvine, as well as Wee Rab who gave the visitors defence a torid time, as usual.
Personally for me, I expect more off some players. We're going to continue losing games, if 8 or so players are left to carry the rest!

i will give you this pugford i dont think yous should be bottom of the table. Out of interest, who has been the worst team yous have played? We have found every game difficult, coming up against teams who have been playing together for a while. Some surprises are at the top of the table, where you'll find waveney (who credit to the have battled their way there) and Riverdale. Both teams not exactly impressing me during our games

Are you serious Pugford? How can Riverdale be a suprise at the top end of the table? We finished 4th last season.
After beating you 4-1 earlier in the season i heard you ask "Ref, who was the Massereene man of the match?" The prompt answer was "Your Keeper!"
Needless to say, it would have been 7 or 8 if it wasn't for his performance.
I don't mind most making a statement like that, but the team at the bottom of the league??? "Are you having a laugh?"

Have to agree with the other boys Pughole.........you talk some pish. Riverdale are a good side, proving that last season as well. Only team to beat us this season in the league. Think the division is starting to show early signs of who will be up there at the end of the season. For me, its only 2 or 3 teams that will be competing for the title. Only my opinion of course. Pughole, your record is 50 goals against in 10 games, and only scoring 11 in the same amount of games, so if certain teams have not impressed you so far, you goal difference is certainly impressive to everyone else ;D ;D

We have played Riverdale twice this year already and I have to say they are the best team we have faced so far. Good young side full of skillful quick players, I am surprised they are not clear at the top of the league although we did run them close in our second game.

More importantly, lads dont get me wrong. Riverdale have shown how good a side they are, or they wouldn't be sitting where they are. My view was taken from the game we played with them. In which finished 4.1 to them. You may think thats a very convincing scoreline, and I suppose it is, although having said that. We were well in the game at 2.1, and we missed a sitter to make it 2.2. Riverdale then went straight down the other end to their credit, and banged in 2, to seal the win. My point in my initial post was, that we were well in the game, with a very weak team out, so I was surprised that other teams (the better teams we've played) haven't done the same and more. Now, someone tell me whats wrong with that
