A 12 man Massereene travelled to Waveney last night. Too many injuries to even write up here. Players on holiday and players working meant we were, as the saying goes, "bare bones".
We battled hard and gave waveney a better game than they expected. Going in at half time 0.0.
We eventually took the lead when Dee Thompsons strength on the ball seen him hold off the defender and drive a low shot into the bottom corner.
Waveney didn't give up, and deservedly clawed their way back to the win, as Massereenes players felt the pace.
Not a bad display with 2 players carrying strained muscles into the game. Who should never of played.
Final Score Waveney Swifts 3 v 1 Massereene Swifts.
After the game the Waveney manager stated the fact that so far this season we were the hardest team they've played. Physically I couldn't ask any more of my players, and like I told them last night, if we keep working as hard as we are, it will eventually pay off.
I'm sure we're not the only team feeling the heat of the mid-week games. Its not easy. Cant wait for the saturday games to start, so we can get back onto the training ground a work on a few things. Theres plenty of time for Massereene Swifts to turn the corner, so dont write us off just yet.

Aye scratch isnt the best ref in the world, but who is... there will always be someone unhappy with the ref...
Who would ever want to become o ref in the first place for the grief they take for a few quid!!!

TRUE But, when you are the ref, its important to be fair. And fair he wasn't. Still, no point in cryin about it Yous did well young Ciaran, battled hard. All the best

Aye really tough game, if yous keep up that battling performance yous will be ok!!! Your team must be the smallest ive ever played against, no height in the team and it sort of showed in the battles in the air!!

Too true. I couldn't even jump last night. Was probably about another 4 or 5 days away from being fit again, but has no choice but to play last night, and that will keep me out for another while. Gutted.
We have players who can, and will win the ball in the air. Just getting everyone there at the same time seems to be difficult.
Have to be happy with the way we played last night, esp with so many missing. Better things to come from us.

Away to Riverdale, who have been doing really well so far.
Forum only have 1 pitch at the minute, as the others are being rested. Rested like, when the season has started. Planks!
We're having to play away a lot because of it. But then if we play a lot of our away games now, the mid-weeks at the end of the season will be easier to get a squad for. Meeting at 5.45 is a bit early.
Yeah Ciaran, Mark Morrison has done really well for us since stepping in for Mel Gould, who has a few staved fingers. Think Mel is back for tomorrow night though, which is a bonus for us. Finding a good goalkeeper is hard to do. We've been very lucky in that respect

Riverdale are looking good at the minute, think randalstown will be hard to stop tho, along with ballykeel, 7 towers and a few others. Will be a very close run league this year, glenarm and lisnafillan are not getting it there own way this year either compared to last which is good to see!!

Yeah, I've been quite suprised with Lisnafillan. Thought they would have been much stronger, although they still have a handy side. Haven't seen Glenarm this season yet, but I reakon its pretty much the same team from last year. Which is a good thing. They were a very good side last year. Still its early days for everyone. Time to impress yet

I dont think so Bumner. We might not have got off to a great start, but we will get better. Dont forget, we are a new team with a lot of new players. It will take time to gel and progress!

Well if we are, we are. I dont think that will happen. Good thing is that no-one in my squad will jump ship and join another team every single player gives 100% and I'm proud of their comittment, and effort. We're making too many silly mistakes. Especially at the back, but I'm confident we'll get there. Once these mid-weeks are over we can work on things like that.

Suprised at you once Massereene, Randalstown boys taking such pride in slagging us off, and taunting.
I'm certainly not going to roll over. Its going to be a long season that has barely started, we'll see how we fair in the end.
