I am a castletown member and we have just won the 2nd division championship by only dropping 2 points I would like to congratulate Massereene Swifts for being the only team good enough to take points off us on our way to the title

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our players the management team and everyone else connected with the club on this succss lets go now and assault the 1st boys

A Castletown member...wouldn't be interested in bringing a larger following of the team into the forum?
As you can see they are a little thin on the ground at the minute.

Thanks for the responses to this topic.
Yes I would like to bring more of our lads into this forum and yes we do need to strengthen our squad for the first and are planning to already, yes some of our lads are experienced but still good footbalers and most are good enough for the first

Champion, as you know, I watched you guys a few weeks ago and quite frankly I think you are not good enough for the 1st division. Paul Lavery is 42 for Gods sake, Flee is 40, Derek Quinn is 36, English slabber at the back is 38, loafy is 37 willie in the midfield is too fat and all the other players are not that great. You will need some transformation to compete in the top league. Sure Army could call on his array of players who play in the higher leagues  |

I think the current Castletown team could be a mid table first division side. They may be old and fat, as you put it Bremner, but still doing the job. Bremner - Willie is just big boned....just like yourself..  Also you named all the people around your age....hhhmmmm how long have you given the game up ;D ;D |

Weeman, I had the sense to give it up, some people do not...... and by the way fat or not you still wouldnt have laced my boots. Remember you couldnt get into the team when I was a regular. And another thing, you have a bit of a sump on you too. |

Champion, I.m sure we know each other. If you have been connected with Castletown for a long time you would have seen me playing against you many times. Had some great battles over the years, even going back to Robin McMaster, boycey, dessie kelly, and as your team is presently old ;D, i've played against most of them as well. I will say no more on this subject ;D ;D i have been reading this forum recently and i feel moved to reply to some of bremners posts.in most posts you are less than complimentry towards current players and teams playing in the bsml.now i,m sure the teams and players concerned would accept any criticism directed towards them if it came from an ex player who they respected and had high regard for.but (stekes) as an ex player myself and having played against you on numerous occaisions ihave to say ,you were not that good certainly not as good as you think you were and not good enough to slate any players still playing.so lose that chip on your shoulder because if you were any good you would be still playing....... |

looks like u have hit a raw nerve there bremner . lets be honest the 2nd division isnt of a great standard but there is good teams in it and alot of good individuals. massarene are an excellent footballing side and have a lot of youth in their team . many older players who have played higher league football also play 2nd division football and young players can learn alot from them which in time hopefully bring the standard up.

However if you think I was not that good, please explain to me how I was picked for the BSML league team on more than one occassion. Have you ever played for the league team??. If you have you must be as good as me. Spectator, dont take everything to heart. I try and give an honest opinion about different subjects within this site, some people like them and some people dont. I just want more people to log on and post. Thanks for the posts everyone. Bremner criticise a lot of teams and a lot of players apart from Antrim FC/Rathenraw players management and anything to do with them. As he says "The league forget all the good publicity they have brought them over the years."
Yes the second division is not of a great standard at the minute but we (Castletown) are streets ahead of any team in it which just goes to show that we dont belong there and are back where we do belong in the top division. Even someone who hates Castletown cant fail to see that apart from last year we have been a top four team.

Yes header, its great to see the Antrim teams do well, its good to see at least 2 Antrim teams back in the 1st division were they belong. And for the record, I do not have any connection with FC Antrim, how many times do I have to say that I have no affiliation with FC Antrim so this is not a bias view. First of all Champion, congratulations on you title win, and I mean that. For the record, I do not support FC Antrim, I actually live in Randalstown. Champion, how many more quotes do you need to understand. I have no connection whatsoever with FC Antrim and I do not dislike Castletown. The players that you say I have attacked are all known to me and me to them so a lot of the criticism is just banter. So Champion, give me examples were I have been critical of other teams. If you are going to make statments, make sure your information is correct before you do. Reread my quotes Champion |

Its been as easy winding you up here as it was on the pitch.
As for myself about who I am our how good or bad a player I was.Well I,m not going to blow my own trumpet.Its for other people to decide how good or bad a player you are.

What we should do is compare medals sometime.
Maybe thats not a good idea because you dont have many...............

It doesnt matter what division it was, firstly, its one more than youve got and secondly in the last 20 years only 60 people have won division player of the year. Take into account that the some players have won it more than once (sooty comes to mind) that would take it down to lets say 50 people in the last 20 years. That means that I am one of the top 50 players to play in this league in the last 20 years..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Up your pipe TheCat |
