Well it was another day in the season and abbeyview claimed the victory after an evenly matched contest. Young ginga ninja wesley was dismissed for a stupid stamp on some pussies toe. The goals came from young gaz b a hat-rick from jimmy g and also a hat-rick from bellsy. Well done lads on progressing to the next round.

ok to go into a bit more detail of the result, we found ourselves giving the opposition yet another head start by conceding 2 goals in the first 15 minutes. Colin Bell pulled one back with the most laid back goal I have ever seen. It seemed like a chore that he had to side foot it through the crowd and place it in the bottom corner of the goal. The second came from a Jim Gallagher toe poke oh i mean free kick from the edge of the 18 yard box. the keeper made a bit of a mess of it and it squeezed under him.
With the game in control good play down the right resulted in Bellsy being 1 on 1 with the keeper to slot it home for 3-2. As half time approached Glenarm equalized through a defensive mistake and a lucky strike to make it 3-3 at half time.
Second half was as much of a roller coaster as the first. Again we let Glenarm take a 5-3 lead in the first 10 minutes of the second half before waking up. However strikes from Bellsy and a superb 20 yard lob from sub Gary Brown drew the game level. Abbeyview then got a penalty from a hand ball incident and whilst this was being set up Wes decided to stamp on someones toes just as the ref turned and caught him. To be fair he was only retaliating from a knee the the back of the leg but never the less was sent off.
Jim Gallagher stroked the penalty home. Just when we thought we had hung on for the victory in the very last kick of the second half Glenarm had a shot which was not held by the keeper and the rebound was scrambled over the line to make the score all even.
Down to 10 men and with 20 minutes of extra time to be played we done what we didn't do all game....not concede for 20 minutes. Jim Gallagher headed home with about 7 minutes to go for a very hard fought win.

wat a game think we showed real grit against a very determined glenarm side who i expect to be back in the second next season. the cup was a nice break from the league and while its not good that we sare still conceding six goals a game the old abbeyview character was back on sat
