The 'View' travel to Victoria Park, East Belfast to take on 116th in the Junior Shield this weekend with a 1.30pm kick-off. A welcome break from the normal and a day out for the lads. The manager has already stated that all fringe players will get a run out this weekend so he can have a look at certain players and formations without any pressure to come away with a result. A mini-bus and a few cars will be leaving approx 12.15pm and I'm sure we will stay up the East for a beer or two after the game at the hosts local 'watering hole.'

116th Old Boys 3 Abbeyview 7
Despite going behind to an early Old Boys goal, Abbeyview dominated this game and with all due respect to the home side, should have easily reached double figures. After the early set-back, this game turned into the Alan Gifford show, after a 15 minute hat-trick in the first half including a super strike from outside the box for his first, he added another two for himself in the second half to take his tally to 5. Further strikes from Jackie Todd and a first Abbeyview goal for Phil Brown completed the scoring with the Old Boys to their credit grabbing two late consolation goals.
A decent peformance on a tricky small pitch by the 'View' against a physically stronger Old Boys team and Abbeyview comfortably into the next round of the shield.

P.S. Dingdong - Absolutely right!, the pitch was long enough but shockingly narrow! The edge of the area was only about 3 yards from the sideline! And yes, when the first of the take-offs went over us, I thought some of our boys were going to take cover!
