Another home game this week against a Clough side who are capable of beating any team in the division on their day. Hopefully on the big pitch at the forum we will be able to maintain our superb home form.

Yes, Clough as we very well know can cause any team problems and we will have to pressure them early and take our chances when they come. Both sides narrowly won their home games against eachother last season, so I'm expecting the 'view' to take the points this Saturday. No injuries/suspensions at the minute so we should have a good strong squad to choose from.
Alan Gifford and Jackie Burrows could make their long awaited debuts this weekend.

The view ran out 4-2 winners in this one in what can only be described as a battle over 90 minutes. Patches of football on what was a very heavy surface with the view not being on their usual pitch!! nevertheless the view dug deep and ground out the result for an important three points.

Abbeyview 4 Clough Rangers 2
Very frustrating morning for the 'view' after learning that they would not be playing on their usual 'home' pitch due to a new pitch booking arrangement and to rub salt into the wounds as they say, not even a changing room available on arrival was not helpful as they looked to go top of the league.
On the 'cut grass' covered pitch, Abbeyview started the brighter and settled well playing some good football with Chris Perks and Colin Bell in midfield supplying strikers Rab Murdoch and Andy Robinson with some great chances that were not dispatched. A Murdoch back heel from lively debutant Alan Gifford's cross after 15 mins was cleared off the line by a Clough defender with the keeper beaten was the most notable chance of the opening exchanges. After 25 minutes Abbeyview deservedly took the lead when Murdoch found himself free inside the box and neatly slotted home from 12 yards to open the scoring. Clough responded well, and equalised 5 minutes later with their striker (No.10) beating his marker and cutting inside before striking a great shot from 20 yards into the bottom corner of the net. Abbeyview regained control of the game and the lead when Andy Robinson latched onto a long ball and with a great first touch, outpaced the Clough defence before calmly shooting home to put the home side in front. Abbeyview could have added to their lead but some great defending from Clough and a few wasted chances kept the score at 2-1 until a great move on the right wing seen Alan Gifford break free and shoot home his first goal on his return to Abbeyview. Just before the interval, Abbeyview were caught out trying to play off-side which seen a Clough midfielder (Chada?? No.7) finding himself free in the box and he rounded the 'View' keeper and slotted home to make it 3-2 at half-time. The second half seen both sides have spells of posession without any clear cut chances being created and a lot of long balls being easily dealt with by both defences, Clough's best chance of the half again seen (No.10) losing his marker only for the home keeper Fearson to superbly save with his legs to keep Abbeyview's narrow lead. After 75 mins Andy Robinson should have wrapped up the points for the 'View' when with only the keeper to beat, delayed his shot and allowed the Clough keeper to close in and block his shot. 5 minutes from time, Alan Gifford cutting in from the right wing was upended by the Clough keeper who was fortunate to only see a yellow card and from the resulting spot kick Murdoch made it 4-2 to seal the points and take Abbeyview to the top of the table.

Cheers mate, since losing our first two league games, we've won 5 and drew 1 (which we should have won) of the last 6. Going pretty well, and just hope we can keep the good form going and stay in and around the top of the table. Good luck.

Jeff hows the face.. ;D ;D..looked across from our match to see you attempt a simple save only for the ball to 'slip' through your hands and hit you up the dish....the ball then popped up for you to grap. ;D ;D

Now now.....should have won...both teams had their chances that day and the game could have went either way. ;D Nice run that you's are on and once again that home record is still in tact. What's that now, 13 months unbeaten at home in the league??
