Abbeyview 2 v 1 Clough
Right from the kick off Clough put pressure on Abbeyview with some neat passing and keep ball tactics. It was Abbeyview however who had the first clear chance after 10 minutes when an in swinging corner by Jackie Todd founds its way to the back post only for Chris Irvines header to be cleared off the line. Clough were starting to find holes in the Abbeyview midfield which allowed a number of through balls to be played only for the Abbeyview keeper Kieth Fearson to quickly come off his line and clear the threat. Clough had a penalty appeal late in the half when shot bounced off an Abbeyview defenders hand and the ref to wave play on.
After a lack luster first half Abbeyview came out for the second fired up and got the first goal within the first 5 minutes. From a free kick just in their own half Stevie Smiths found Chris Irvine who's looping header found the back of the net thanks to the pressure that the keeper was put under form the view strikers. Abbeyview got their second 5 minutes later wth some neat passing from the view left back who found Colin Bell on the edge of the 18 yard box and with a perfectly weighted lay off found Allen Donnelly who fired home by the near post. Clough showed resolved and started to play themselves back into the game. Their hard work paid off when a well worked move down the left flank allowed their striker to beat an Abbeyview defender before slotting the ball nicely away. Clough threw everything at it to find an equalizer but were only allowed a few half chances by the Abbeyview defence. This allowed the view to hit Clough on the break and Jackie Todd missed a glaring chance late on to seal the win. Abbeyview hung on to progress into the next round.

Very fair match report weeman. Thought we maybe deserved extra time for our first half performance and from 2nil down. Not joking every week we have a ten minute period after half time where we totally fall asleep. It happened last week against Cullybackey when we were 3 up at half time they made it 3-2 within 10 minutes after the break.
Anyway good luck in the next round. Another good game lads played in good spirits as always. Look forward to the league game and maybe just maybe a wee final in the George McAuley.

You obviously weren't watching then. Andy T didn't touch the ball and the ball was over the line before the keeper pulled it out again. ;D My goal!!!!

Not as clear cut weeman as the match report reads ;D Your goal no doubt mate, I claim all sorts of goals too The report is how it happened. Just cause some 40 or 50 yards away couldn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't clear cut. Anyway I don't care if it was clear cut straight cut or crinkle cut............my goal. ;D ;D
