The 'view' entertain the 'keel' this weekend at the Forum looking to extend our unbeaten home league run even further. Played Ballykeel near the end of last season when the 'keel' were sitting second in the league at the time and to be honest, Joe and the boys admitted they were lucky to come away with a point as we totally dominated play for most of the game and should have comfortably took the three points. Not such a great start for the 'keel' this season but nonetheless, they wont be coming to Antrim just to make up the numbers, so we'll have to hit the ground running and get in front early and control the game. Good to be back on the big pitch this weekend, should suit our passing game.

Abbeyview 5 Ballykeel 1
On a perfect pitch in sunny conditions at the Forum, Ballykeel started the brighter, and caused the 'View' defence a few problems with Justy Rowe in particular making some good runs and shooting narrowly over after 10 minutes. Just as the home side started knocking the ball around on the big pitch and creating a few chances, a 'keel' midfielder picked up a loose ball before sending Rowe through to score at the second attempt after the 'View' keeper had made a great save from his first effort. Abbeyview then switched on and should have scored twice with efforts from Jackie Todd and Rab Murdoch being well saved by the excellent young 'keel' keeper but on 25 mins after a great move involving Colin Bell, Graham Mitchell and Jackie Todd. the ball fell to young Stephen Brown who's shot hit the hand of a 'keel' defender and the penalty kick was duly dispatched by Murdoch to level the scores. On 30 mins again after some great midfield play Jackie Todd received the ball 25 yards out on the right hand side and cleverly cut inside and drilled home a great shot from the edge of the area. Abbeyview were well on top now and just before the break made it 3-1 when Graham Mitchell drifted past the 'keel' defense and after having his volley well saved by the keeper, the ball fell to him again, and he calmly rounded the keeper to fire home.
The second half started quietly for both teams with no real opportunities being created. Abbeyview seemed happy to play the ball from deep and kept a lot of possession, and Ballykeel chasing the game, couldnt find the final ball to trouble the home defense. A few half-decent chances came for both sides midway through the half, but Ballykeels chances of getting anything from the game all but ended after an argument on the sidelines which seen 2 players for the visitors walk off the field. Stevie Smith put away a 71st minute penalty after Murdoch had been brought down and as the game drew to an end, Jackie Todd scored his second at the back post after some great work by Graham Mitchell on the right wing to seal a comfortable home win.
