Some of you's know of this maybe some have read but it's and unreal achievement and for a great cause. go to the gym way these two guys and am just about to leave the house now as they have just got to Seven Towers roundabout and on route to Green Pastures in Galgorm after making a world record.Lads be great if you's could donate to this charity :)Big well done to the pair of them.Sleep for a week after that!! :)How to donate is all in the link.Or come down now and give them a dereved cheer :)LOCAL men Glenn Wilkinson and Scott McGarry are proving an eye-catching sight in Ballymena as they take turns to wheel their wheelbarrow through streets wide and narrow for a good cause.
The duo, who are both members of the Galgorm based Green Pastures Church (GP), have set themselves the feat of wheeling each other for 300km around the province in just five days - pushing each other for a mile at a time all along the way.
Their aim - to raise funds for GP’s Freedom House, a self-funding residential sheltered facility on the Ballynafie Road which offers help to women from a wide area who are suffering from eating disorders, self-harm, depression, addiction or any form of abuse.
Glenn (41) and Scott (21), both personal trainers at GP, are currently limbering up on local roads for what they believe will be a World Record breaking fundraising event next month when they hope to raise a staggering £50,000 for Freedom House.
“We’re practising 25 hours a week to prepare our bodies for the stress of the event. - It will be very, very difficult,” said Glenn.
“We’re out very early in the mornings at the moment and we have got some strange looks from people who obviously think we’re trying to get home after the night before!”
Glenn and Scott’s unique fundraiser, which will see them cover 50km in each of the province’s counties with their wheelbarrow, will get underway at 5am on June 25. In the meantime, they can be sponsored by logging on to www.justgiving.com/_thebigpush or by texting 70070 and then ‘Push 55’ followed by a space and the amount you wish to sponsor.
