I'm sure Rovers will be on at some point to confirm or deny this.
No disrespect to Penarol but I would like to see Glenarm remain in the league. Well run side who always do well in the first division.

That would be my only gripe Bap, travelling to Larne. To play on the pitch @ Seacourt makes it worthwhile though.

Very harsh on fc pen if true. News broke at a bad time & no doubt effected their players in the run up to their playoff campaign.

This is true according the Penarol manager.
What a balls up with Penarol stuck in the middle.
Glenarm really should of done there business privately and none of this would of ever came to like.
In the long run it might work out better for Penarol, imo they are a fair few players short of first division standard.

Glenarms application to the afternoon league was after the deadline going by the email I seen from B McIlroy, may be because of this or else just a change of heart.
EDIT : deadline was extended so im talking pish!

If glenarm informed the league they were leaving and penerol were told officially by the league they were promoted this could get messy. IMO if this is the case penerol should go up and glenarm should start again in the 3rd( might actually help them if the talk on here was correct) however my feeling is that it was never made official and in that case it's just hard luck on penerol.

Jeff i think you are correct, it was never made official but from on here and rumours Penarol believed there were getting promoted.
Also i watched the game in their semi final and they just went through the motions as i'm sure at the back of their minds they thought they were up anyway!

I think that there were always 4 teams being promoted from the 3rd this year anyway so i don't think it will effect braid. I could be wrong though.

nothing has been confirmed with glenarm yet as was said at the meeting the other night. the league has been kept in the loop the whole way as to what is happening and as i said at the meeting all decisions will be made by the start of the week. the rumors have not came from our camp it does not take long for people to spin something that suites them we have been dealing with this in the proper manner and all will be sorted by the start of the week.

glenarm have withdrawn from the saturday morning league the call was made last night and letter will follow this weekend. we have had many a enjoyable season in the league and are gutter about leaving but we were losing to many players to compete at the level we were at. as for the other glenarm team i know very little about it other than it has nothing to do with us and was not taking any of our players.

This is sad news as Glenarm are one of the more established teams in the league. We personally always got on so well with the Glenarm team. With both teams hailing from small villages we had many of the same issues in common and had many a good game. All the very best to the players, officials and club in general and hope this move secures the future of Glenarm Rovers for years to come from all at Cloughmills.
