Rules may be outdated and need looked at but to be caught 2 years in row for eligibility issues smacks of stupidity to me

this has all escalated from saturdays match and what happened after, nothing else.
after 60 odd games in the league and finally getting beat has taken its toll.
dob hasnt thought about the homers players, carniny players or the rest of the people in the bsml here, quite simply thought about himself in this decision.
and its not an honest mistake, there was a player who played for carniny as well when he shoudnt have this year in the junior cup....this is absolute balls

Am in shock at this, everyone i have spoken to regarding this final was going and looking forward to it, great advert for league. All i can say is fair f!!king play to the carniny manager, what a call to make having worked there nuts of to get to the final and the club as a whole. Tell ya what lads if game is off when the sick feeling is gone hold your heads high, stupid rule but a rule all the same. Just hope there is some way the game can go ahead for the 2 clubs and league also.

You have to give dobie credit where credit is due, he done the honourable thing, trust me there is no one in Ballymena that wants to win a junior competition more than him, so this decision was not taken lightly and I would imagine he is hurting more than any Carniny or Homers player.

Ronny, you's done the same thing playing ineligible players, surely you's should be pulling out aswell? Or am I way off the mark here? And you's didn't play ineligible players? If so then I apologise and say fair play to you's for winning it, superb achievement.

I honestly cant see how anyone can criticise carniny here. They broke the rules & owned up to it. They should be held up as an example of great sporting integrity not villified. Seems a bit daft on their part that it got this far but mistakes do happen. I can't believe Carniny would be afraid to play anyone. You don't win 5/6 or whatever it is in a row by being afraid to play. In my opinion it's a great example of Fair Play from Carniny & if there were more like them then the league would be stronger for it.

and if a team pulls out because of wanting to win it fairly, then hats off to them i really do mean that
...but this is not the reason why carniny have pulled out of the shield, even how much they want to say it on this forum or wherever else.
i cannot stress this enough.

cant say "exactly" what actually happened after the match as that is between the people who it involved and if they want to come on and explain to everyone what went on then thats ok...but something did happen, and it would not have happened if carniny had beat the homers, and thats pretty much a fact.

Rules like this stifle junior clubs. As a player you want to be playing against the best players you can possibly play against, so i'm with Lenny and Harty on this. IMO a club should only withdraw or be banned from the competition if they play a suspended player or a player who isn't signed or signed past a certain date, anything else should be fair game. The late great Bill Shankly once said about players, which could also be adopted to mean the rule-makers of the game aswell, "Football is a simple game made complicated by people who should know better".

is it not true that the homers played a ineligible player against ford and 2 v the sky blues? think ronny is a wee bit hypocritical here pretending the homers are whiter than snow.

The next harryville derby should be a fiesty affair And on this whole debatacle honestly don't know what to say but if carniny have pulled out due to the reason giving I applaud it but I'd bet my life on it if u went back over the winners of these junior comps the last 10 years quite a winners would fall foul of this silly rule and maybe not even knowing it. But I fully understand why dobbie down it as he feels the current squad are good enough to win at the very least 1 of these cups and if found guilty the 3 year ban would make it all the harder as players move on, reitre, etc etc

Genuine question out of interest (because wouldnt want people getting the wrong idea again) but can Mo McDowell ever play injunior competitions again or does he only have to wait a couple seasons?

Was speaking to Mo after our game on Tuesday Night and he was saying he's out of Junior Cup for 3 seasons and Junior Shield for 1 season.
