its hard for larne bsml teams to have very strong each year ... in larne , the rec, tech obs are brillant set ups and good players go there .... great pitches, club houses etc .... it attracts good players ... Nail on head. Also have Newington Rangers playing in 1C of Amateur League. Havent been too many transfer from St Comgall's to there though I am one of few to have played for both. The Mo Johnston of my era Think St Comgalls won the 3rd a good few seasons back (maybe unbeaten) and reached the 1st Div but the team was just ripped apart then as the town's bigger teams came in and plucked the best players. Result - straight back down to 3rd again. Ballymena doesnt have that problem as none of their teams have the plums to aim higher. Sorry, meant they all like going shopping with the wives on Sat afternoon. This is true, i just think that the players who are now coming back should have realized that leaving St Comgalls to go play for the rec or ltob was not the best idea. They are coming back or a reason.

Got relegated with their team on the bench at the bigger teams & then come back the next year stronger again. No lessons being learned.

Would definitely agree. A manager can never go to a player at one of the better teams and persuade him to drop to that level of football. And any young uns that look good are soon snapped up. Young Dean Shaw played one season then left St C's in October and is banging in the goals now in 1A for Welly Rec.

Will have to get down to a tech game before end of season .... decent crowd follows them and welly ...... great standard them 2 clubs are in .... and sum great players ur against week in week out . so players improve so much at that level

Welly Rec against Tech this week, always a good battle. 9 games left and closing in on the top 2. Even better standard next season if they can get up. Their match with Derriaghy is the big one. Win it and they will get up where they belong.
