Enkalon 9, Ahoghill Rovers 1
Four-goal Jeff Johnston was the star of a devastating display by Enkalon.
But it was Rodney Nutter who made the first breakthrough, inside 10 minutes. Fed by Neil Murdock, he cut inside the full-back before sweeping the ball into the net.
Johnston made it 2-0, applying the finish to Nutter’s cross after his first effort had brought a good save from Johnny Reid.
Rovers suffered a severe setback when their influential midfielder, Ryan Morrow, had to retire with an injury.
On the half-hour, Johnston put Davy Moore through for the third goal, and just before the interval Moore returned the compliment, setting up an easy chance for Johnston.
In the second half, a low drive by Colin Gill found its way through a crowded penalty area to the net, and then Steve Wilson and Moore created the opening for Johnston to complete his hat-trick.
Centre-half Brian Watson got in on the scoring act, following a corner, and Moore made it 8-0. Substitute Alan Robinson netted a consolation goal for Rovers, but straight from the restart Johnston rounded off a fine individual performance with his fourth goal.
Galgorm Blues 2, Glencloy Swifts 4
Glencloy took a deserved lead in the 35th minute when 17-year-old Christopher McAllister scored with a great drive from 25 yards, but Frankie Caulfield restored parity on 50 minutes and five minutes later Blues snatched the lead with a fine headed goal.
Glencloy made a tactical substitution, pitching in Stephen Morgan, and after a period of pressure, James Mellon put them on level terms.
Swifts’ superior fitness was a telling factor in the closing 20 minutes, and their fourth win of the campaign was sealed with strikes from the prolific Thomas Urwin.
