It's true Pele, but till the end of the season the league will be sponsored by the Montgomery family. A fantastic gesture and a measure of the committment of Monty and family.

I heard that also that the Montgomery family was taking over. Lads we all have our disagreements with wee monty at times but tbf the work him and the whole family do to run the league is just unbelieveable. I personally don't think they get anywhere near the credit they deserve.

Cheers pele and shankly I will pass on ur kind words to monte senior!!
And it is true that the Montgomery family will be sponsoring the league this year but from next year the league will be looking for a new sponsor!! The league means alot to the family and the work that goes in is all worth it and I think th fact that so many people take part and watch etc games shows how much it means to the people of the town as well!!

Really and truely the BSML is a great league to play in and well organised as well, mainly down to the montys. Not everyone is going to agree with them all the time but all in all, they do a great job.

Would have to agree totally with the above, always go out of their way to accommodate teams, and do what must be a 7 days a week job.

The montys do some work, having been on the committee for a few years I saw at first hand all the work involved. They really do deserve a lot of credit for the way the league is run!!

I would imagine it's alot more than most of us would think.
Club wise I couldn't believe how much it cost to run when I got involved committee wise and the costs rise each year.
Would be interesting to hear how other teams raise their funds.
Anyway back to topic, brilliant gesture from Brian, Joe and family.

Sounds about right, difference with us though is our pitch is private owned and we lease it, £1k per year. Then there's all the utility bills that come with that etc plus insurance, and all, ends up a silly figure before costs of running 2 teams.
Our treasurer is on this and would know the figures off hand better than me.

Just in before you hope jnr88 doesnt give us a telling off again ..... both clubs are sorry joe something tells me neither club will be up infront of the committee again any time soon!! these fines dont go towards sponsorship though that is totally different as normally the sponsor money goes direct to either PResentations or the Quinns depending on who makes the trophies!!

Fair play to yese joe, having witnessed 1st hand the abuse u get, a lesser man would have walked away along time ago.
IMO without the montes, the league wouldnt be half as well run.

Sponsorship is the only way it can become self sustainable, To lose a sponsor and the guys that run the league not able to get another begs the question, Why Not? It's not as if its a multi million £ deal! I had to go back a few weeks in the fixture emails to see who it actually was that sponsored our league, turns out it was 'Edel – Tonic Sports Drink'. Now Im spend alot of my time involved with the BSML and my memory is fine and I couldnt for the life of me remember who sponsored the league, why would anyone want to put money into advertising when the only advertising that is visible (and utterly forgettable) is Edel – Tonic Sports Drink text above the fixture list, in plain text. If you want sponsors you have got to make it attractive to them, at the minute, it is not attractive to anyone. So fair play with all the pats on the backs for the guys, they put alot of effort into it I know, but come on!

Even this season the O'Kane Cup was renamed the ARKMEDIA Cup at the request of the sponsor who guaranteed sponsorship for the next 3 years!! The past two years Top Four Final winners have been pictured holding the banner of the Mortgage Shop!! cant see what much more a Local League can do for sponsors, but any great ideas will be greatly appreciated!!

Nobody cares what you think, Rab. Your opinion means dick. Especially when it's a pile of pish.
The Montgomery's deserve every bit of praise they get.

look, I know they put alot of effort into it and deserve all the praise they get, yes, no one is doubting that. What I am asking is why things were done the way they were. If a member of a team from the league cant question the way in which the league is run, with the betterment of the league in mind, then what kind of establishment is it? What this sponsorship debacle reminds us is how much we rely on one family, Do you think that is a really healthy situation for the league to be in? I dont
