I'll tag it Midweek games but I'd like a discussion about games played outside the BSML slot of Saturday morning ! This winter, just like last, has seen our league fixtures decimated with many a team playing only 1 game from the end of November We have the Cliff in Larne,Moyola and even the Main Pitch at the Showgrounds able and willing to provide Weds and Friday nite footie ! Is this the way forward or what lads as the pile up come the end of the season is a nitemare! I'm just putting it out there to discuss!!

Most of these places I'd say are blocked booked so it would be hard I think to get onto these pitches!

That may be the case Chris and I appreciate that mate. But in the instance of the Main pitch at the Showgrounds could you really see it being booked for a Tues or Thurs night thou!! ASOB V Broadway on a Thurs nite for example. Its a council pitch after all and any team from the Ballymena area has a right to book it mate 2 quid at the gate covers the upcost from a normal Sat too I'd say

Do you know how much it is to book the main pitch at the Showgrounds?
Last I recall 2 or 3 years back it was £130. Can't see too many teams paying that.

And as raj says the extra cost is alot as pitch alone would cost close to 150!! With minimal teams still in the shield and the teams who have played less games out of this competition I don't see the backlog being as bad as people may think!! Now I know that glenarm away during the week may be a possibility for division one teams provided both teams where happy enough to play!!

Well that's why I put it out there Raj as a wee feeler mate! And yeah Joe ,aslong as the League wouldn't have a problem with games outside the Saturday slot !! Or even a Sunday slot perhaps

And Jnr I've looked back at your n Dowies post about the Junior Cup and yous are siting the fact that the weather n lack of games have been to the downfall of the BSML !! So why not look at other solutions rather than a hard bitten frosty pitch on a Sat morning mate

Or even a Sunday slot perhaps I would doubt very much the Ballymena council would open any pitches on a Sunday, in fact Id be willing be put money on it.

See lads the more you think about it the solutions are there We at the Skys would never play on a Sunday but there's teams that might who come from a background of playing Sunday sports!!! When Clough get there 3g floodlight up and running there's another option on a Fri or midweek game

Weather had nothin to do with us going out, yes we were due to be home but cos of there weather we went to them bot the pitches are the same so to me home or away makes no difference..
I'd be up for any of your suggestions el but for the likes of the money issues at most places i'd say there all non runners.

Think there are 17 Saturdays left in season, could possibly get away with most teams only have to play 1 match during week, but think Homers and Carniny could be in for a hectic schedule

So why not look at other solutions rather than a hard bitten frosty pitch on a Sat morning mate I think the weathe had a part to play as teams were not match sharp!! Teams from Belfast have alot more 3/4g facilities to train on etc!! The facilities in ballymena r a joke!! And thats why u think the weather caused the teams in the shield problems!! As for the solution I do agree that we should be looking at ways of getting more games played in winter weeks!!

only thing with the cliff lads is that it is booked solid for training through the week in winter, only night it would usually be free would be fri nights??
larne fc, larne tec, welly rec all use pitch for training during winter but once better weather comes in they go back to there own training pitches.
if you have 1 team using a 3rd for training then you cant get a game.

Think it rakes in a good bit of money for him too.

Surely one of these indoor 3gs is a must for ballymena For the size of the town and saying its a football town as well, there should at least be one. Think its just waiting for someone to take a chance and spent a few quid on it
