Very sad indeed Pele.
The whole suicide thing is defo on the increase. In the past few years I've known a lot of people to go that way!!!
And people say it's the cowards way out. I think it takes serious balls to even set it up never mind actually going through with it!!!
Not nice at all!!!

In the papers the other day sure a wee girl at 8 hung herself? 8 years old fuc sake? How do they even know how it's done at an age like that??? f**king crazy stuff!!!!!! I really believe you have to be properly ill to do something like that. That's the only reason I would hesitate to call someone in that situation a coward. Totally understand the point though about the family having to pick up the pieces, that must be awful. I'm sure everyone on here has some experience in suicide. A terrible and growing problem that I for one have lost a few close friends to.

Its a terrible thing to happen, especially for the families, apart from being left to pick up the pieces they themselves would blame themselves for not helping sooner, whatever the cause.
I dont think its the cowards way out, I agree with Fish, it takes some balls to do it. But to be in that mind set you have to be either ill, or seriously down. There are so many factors now that can make people want to commit suicide. I guess its down to friends and families to be there and help those aound them if they think they are in that frame of mind.
Was talking to a old school friend last night who I hadnt seen in a while who is a pharmasist (sp) and he was saying that the amount of anti depressants being given out now has increased dramatically over the last few years.
That tells a story in itself.

Very true Mower. There is always the torture of "what if" for the people left behind. A year past in April I lost a good friend the same way. At the time I was driving the wee Harley as Pele once described it. Wee flying machine she was..... Anyway, a friend who I had worked with for years before I left the building site for the office had left the painting firm we both worked for and set up his own business. Long before we met he was a serious alcoholic and, by his own admission, was a bad man in those days where he'd do anything to get drink. He had been clean for something like 7 or 8 years I think and I hadn't been talking to him for a while.... One Friday, as I left my estate on the Harley, I noticed his new van parked beside the pub. I was shocked and turned the bike round to go and see but stopped as I was convinced it wouldn't be him, he'd came so far, and, thinking it must have been one of his employees, I went on about my business... I got a call to my work on Monday to tell me that my friend was found hanging in a forest after hitting the drink again over the weekend. One of the worst feelings I ever had!!!!! Very sad and as you say Mower, even I was left thinking "what if"!!!!!
