Where do we want to be?
This thread was inspired by a poll currently runnin on the Atletico area - a newly formed team whose players are not outstanding but who at least put in plenty of effort.
They've also got a bit of desire, which sounds a bit cheesy but maybe it's somethin that a lot of weeks we don't have.
What d'you reckon lads?

Cards on the table - 7th/8th place.
I personally don't want to look at the table in May and see Demesne at the bottom - nil points.
More effort on Saturday mornings, getting tighter in the midfield and I seriously think we can pull it back.

I predict that you will be bottom at the end of the season..
Just looking at nifootball.co.uk and the league table. your goal difference is shocking.
Conceding on average over 6 per match...

If you cant compete in the 3rd division when whats the point in trying to compete in the afternoon

It would be silly to play in the afternoon and quit the 3rd. It cant be just mistakes that mean you are conceding over 6 a game. It surely has to come down to how good the footballers are?
Why not try and put a decent squad together and try and do well in the 3rd, before worrying about the afternoon league.

I'll second Ritchaldo ( ). Learn to walk before you run. Without any knowledge of you boys other than what i read on the forum, it really does seem like you need to go back to the drawing board. To bring in players to a (no offence) losing side is not an easy task, though.

The players are letting arthur down, theyre just not doing it. Arthur is the best tactical and motivational manager in the whole bsml, the best at bringing young players through, the only manager you could compare him to would be arsene wenger. He has brought through players like george o'boyle, michael hughes, mickey o'neill, caleb folan, darren parker. If he can produce players like these it means hes the best. Some of the players just dont understand the honour it is to play for arrthur, to look in his eyes and know he rates you as a player. Alec McKee says arthur is best youth developer in the whole borough. When your on the pitch boys you should be prepared to die for arthur. He prepares you, has the best subs gear and knows the team without even having to write it down. Its a shame to see how much theyve fallen since the great demesne teams of the new millenium, but its not arthurs fault.

Don't worry Ritchaldo, there's plenty of time left in the season and at least 2 prospective fixtures to help restore the balance.

Apparently Arsene Wenger will now be wearing a shirt and tie combo in honour of the great man. Think Arthur gave him some inside info on Fenerbache when he coached there for a year.

If you have a look at the Wakehurst side about 3 quarters of the team played at Star united and demesne strollers. These teams have always produced some pretty good players including the likes of Mitty and myself! Don't really know what is going wrong at the mo, prob need to ditch the afternoon team. Pointless having 2 struggling teams but I suppose it gives more of the young lads a game. Not that being hoofed around in the 3rd division is much fun when your 15!

Ratman...that was some tribute to Arthur. I'm loving training and playing, despite results.
I'd like to see some new players coming in, but making an impact, not just making up the numbers. It creates competition for places and might make some of the more established players (including me) push themselves a bit harder.

Exactly rab - play with a bit of heart!
Anyway, this thread's got kind of off track a bit. Anyone care to actually say where they think we can be by May (apart from ritchaldo and his brutal, yet refreshing, honesty - "yous'll be bottom lads!").

I doubt the 'gaffer' would take most of us back The problem Demense will always have, IMO, is although they undoubtly have a few decent young players, none of them ever want to stick around when they get beat every week, and will then move on to a better team, leaving Demense nothing to build on. I can honestly say, as an ex player who was there nealry 10 years (bear in mind im only 26 as well!) I have no pleasure at all in seeing Demense get hammered every week.

We didn't get hammered this morning!!!! We played a good Connor side with Billy Mitchell, Ali McIlroy etc. and it was 1-0 until 90th minute (finished 2-0). We defended well and it was a good team performance.

Lets be honest though, on another day we would have beat youse by a brave few goals. We were brutal in fornt of goal this mornin, the conditions were awful and demesne had one shot on goal. I dont think i've ever played in a more one sided game in all my life and been so dissappointed with how my team had played, at times we were trying to walk it in when a shot on goal was all that was needed.
Ally only played 60 mins as he was playing for Wakehurst this afternoon and probably wasn't at his best as he hasn't played for a while, but we'll get his 6 games in which is the important thing.
No disrespect to Demesne, if i was in that team i'd be more than happy with the way my team played this morning, but seeing as i'm not i'm possibly the most unhappiest man in victory.
Altho 3 points and a clean sheet will do me today,as we want to get out of this league and winning is the only way that will happen.

It's a shame to see Demesne struggle the way they have over the last season or two. Having played at Demesne for 3 or 4 years in the early/mid 90's, I would like to see them doing better, but unfortunately, any good young players seem to move on, and there is no real continuation and development as regards the same team staying together and improving. Would agree that having two teams was a bit ambitious and would they would be better off with just the one.

Raj - memory jogger...players from the mid 90's.
Just off the top of my head I've come up with - Jason Hamer, me, you, Ricky McIlroy, Billy McIlroy, Billy Cull, Billy McDowell, Adrian McMullan, Tony Shaw, Chris Erwin, Colin Turtle, Adrian Service, Colin Steele (?), Jophah Paul, Sammy Parke. Any others you played with?
