demense are sh*t. cant fault the youngsters playing as they give their all but they are playing in a mans league and just cant compete. think big arthur really needs to take a long hard look at himself and the team and ask himself what the point is. its embarrassing for all involved

it also doesnt help matters when arfur keeps most of if not all of the older players for the afternoon. mcclean does need need to face facts that a team of 16-17 year olds cant be expected to perform against grown men week in week out an the results are showin (i think this is the 2nd or 3rd time this season that their opssition has gone into double figures against them)

It's an embarrassment, definitely. I have a lot of sympathy for the youngest players because I've known them all for a while and I've seen every one of them improve and play well on occasion. Often at that age it's a question of consistency and when things are not going for you heads tend to go down that bit easier. As the oldest player I take a lot of responsibility for Saturday's humiliation. The Saturday before I would not have imagined we could be worse, losing 8 2nd half goals to Blackstone (FT 9-0). On Saturday we continued on the same thread and just didn't start at all.

From what I hear there were at least 4 or 5 14 years on the park for Demense. Maybe this could be a blessing in disguise as maybe something will now be done about the slide Demense have been on in the past few years. Kids should not be allowed to play at this level, mainly for Health and safety seasons. Im suprised a few parents let their 13 or 14 year olds play at this standard so young.I have no doubt some of those kids are good players, and will be better players in the future, but at that age they should be playing against Kids their own age. There is no devolpment in any player getting beat 9-0 one week and then 19 the week after. It could put them off playing for the future.
Its sad to see a club like Demense, who had an excellent reputation in the past (remember half the current Wakehurst team came from there) sink to this level.
I sincerely hope things change for the better

The problem isn't ability, its a lack of fitness, concentration, strengh and confidence! We seem to go through periods in matches were we lose concentration and concede 3/4/5 goals in the space of 10/15mins. If we can't compete strengh wise, we should use things like our fitness to our advantage. Hopefully it'll pick up soon cause its a good team just a bit more luck and confidence needed! But its not looking good at the minute!

The result on saturday cant be blamed on Kaiser McClean, the players let him down. Arthur is the best manager to ever come out of Ballymena, hes sustained himself at the highest level of under 14 and Srd division football for years, and is a great rolemodel. Hes produced players like colin murdock, anton rogan, keith gillespie, michael hughes and the dpg. Those young players should be able to do the jobs, or else mcbain wouldnt have played them. They should take a look at themselves because if Arfie gets sacked, there will be retribution. AMcCFF

McClean Coaching Academies. He holds a school of excellence in Liverpool at 4:00 am on a saturday morning, then hes over to dunfane for the bsml game, then up to Upperlands for a Billy McIlroy cup game. Then down the Dolphin for a pastie supper then over to the Shetlands for an under 10 tournament, back home for match of the day then over to England to take a team in the Sunday morning league. Although I dont know what customs are gonna say when they find 14 ten year olds in the boot of his car.

Probably the same thing they always say to him every other time they catch him on! Big Arthur losing his touch or something cos from what Ratman used to tell people he had a lovely gentle touch when he took control of him back in the good old days!!!

Arthur gave the best groin rubs in the business. We used to shower together after the games and i would shave his masculine back. I still have his back hair at home in a little jam jar. Sometimes i glue it to my face to give me a hassle free beard, and im keeping the rest to sell in years to come.

19-0!!!! I cant believe it! How the mighty have fallen! I smell another comeback! Seriously, I dont blame the young players as it sounds like the youngest Demesne team in a long, long time and aswell as pace, skill and ability (which Demesne teams have always had) you need a degree of grit, determination and physical presence to compete in the morning league, especially the third division. Even when I was playing we had a young team but we had enough players in their early 20's+ who had been playing morning league since 16-17 and gave us the perfect blend in the squad. I dont envy the youngsters as it is a steep learning curve and nobody is going to enjoy getting thumped every week. I agree with Mitty that boys of 14 years old should really be playing youth football, but when needs must and you have to put a team out, what do you do. The problem is that the squad is spread to thin over two teams. I say ditch the afternoon team who are struggling anyway and concentrate on the one morning league team again 'cause thats were demesne's history is, the morning league, the bread and butter. Entice back some of the Demesne legends who's chests would swell with pride at pulling on the famous shirt and restoring the club back to its former glories! The Ryan Greggs, Dougie Stevensons, Stevie Mellons and CJ Tanners striking fear into the opposition once again. Alas, these Demesne greats have moved onto greener pastures and the lure of training twice a week and wearing a suit to home games on a saturday (not sure about CJ on that one). Time to ditch that training twice a week nonsense as well and back to a good ole trainin session on a thursday nite at Ballee, with your legs still heavy on the saturday morning of the match. Right lads, last one, 15 times to the first cone and back, then the second and the third........go! Come on players past and present lets set this club soaring again like a phoenix from the flames! How much crap can one man write in a single post. I think If I even contemplated another thompson comeback Arfur would have me shot before I even step foot on the training pitch! Stevie Mellon - Remember the 5 year plan! Anticipated positive responses to this post = 0

I suppose you could call it a kind of hibernation. Every season or two seasons I like to come out of my self imposed exile lag behind everybody on the training pitch, play a couple of matches, lulling everybody into a false sense of security then....baam! like keyser soze...im gone, or 'hibernating' whatever way you want to look at it.
Seeing the team struggling made me long for the good old days!

how much would u take 4 that jar? Ten grand. Im after a few locks of ally gordons hair, it would be worth a pound or two. Theres not much of it about anymore. Im crying as i read this malbrotta. Im for dunfane tonight, to soak up the atmosphere of the glory days. Just walking on that hallowed turf, needles pricking my feet, water round the ankles, its enough to bring a tear to the eye.
