i find it funny to see james mclean write on twitter that he is honoured to be selected to play for his country, if he sees ROI as his country why did he play for NI at youth level and then decide to switch also says hes bricking it about singning the national anthem, maybe becasue he might start singing God save the queen by mistake lol

Also great to see Paul Green back in the squad...I hope he doesn't sing the wrong song too

surely its time for trapp to bring stokes into the squad,, cant see many better irish strikers about at the minute,, not the first player to pull out of a squad and wont be the last,, dont think its fair to end a players international career because of it!!!

In the past i would have agreed with trapps stance but i think he should play him as hes a great striker and on form atm and the ROI team should have a few players who are actually irish

On form stokes should be a shoe in but being a cock and not bothering showing up for international duty because he was tired has came back bite him big style. 1 of my fav celtic players but I've no sympathy for him. Also great to see charlie mulgrew called into the scottish squad he's been superb all season at left mid left back centre half he's never slack ......................

Just a little stat I would like to throw out there. The last all Irish born ROI team was 1975 when the great Johnny Giles was player manager.

A very interesting piece in the Irish Echo. Basically it states that Northern Irish and Scottish school boy coaching is streets ahead of the FAI. The FAI are the magpies of international football stealing all the talent that they had no imput or influence to their ability. A very popular nation to play football for however they have a very poor infrastructure for young talent with no young players coming through. The IFA will continue to grow their own and yes they will lose players to the ROI, but they will at some point have their 10 minutes of fame when 5 or 6 excellent players come through at the same time. And as for the Japanese player.....his father is Northern Irish......and doesn't own an Irish wolfhound or wears a three leaf clover......I will now step of my soap box.. irishecho.com/?p=69482

What about all the players the FAI have produced?? at school boy level Ireland ireland beat scotland and Northern Ireland all the time??
Ireland have no players coming through??
Very very poor journalism. Doesnt back one point up with any facts.
