its the start of a new season at the waveney swifts v penarol away on monday night , i must say that for me it is a pleasure to be involved with all the lads as well as have the respect of boss gordy and the man himself alberto . so im looking forward to the game tomorrow nite and hope the rain styays away , although rodney beggs is away on holiday (have a good one rod ) and will be missed in the middle of the park , but we will have to just play on and hopefully the team gets the result we all want , and that quite simply is 3 points . cmon the swifts .

great win tonite v the mighty penarol , 3-1 . must say we had the game by the scruff of the neck with 3 goals in the first half , it is not easy for any team to get back into the game after conceding 3 , but penarol never stopped and got one from the spot and threatened a couple of more times although without scoring , so gladly enough the swifts went home with the points , and its onwards and upwards to the next game . cmon the swifts .

for or first competetive game of the season im more than happy with a 3 1 win against a team that won 5 at the weekend and would of be full of confidence. i thought we dominated the first half and scored 2 good goals and one cracker from wee dean who at 15 will be a cracker player in the bsml in a few years time.in the second half penarol came back into although they never really created many chances against us and at the same time we could have scored a couple more. as long as we keep up our performance from the first half we will do ok this season and good luck to penarol for the season.

Is that now 3 win's from 3 lad's? Great start. I think it is. As I said on the Reds section last night, Waveney have started brilliantly in spite of the rumours they were struggling a few weeks back. Fair play to all involved!!

Waveney have a good core of lads there, and I had no doubt they werent going to struggle.
With the lkes of big Phil staying, and Fudgie coming into his own, as well as Boydy playing well, the Waveney will be a hard team to beat this year!!
Maybe the Dark Horses of the Second Div!? Wed night will tell a tale - on both teams I think!!!

we will do ok this year but no one is getting carried away will be a big test on wed night for us and we will know where we stand.we will be missing some boys but im confident whoever plays wed will put in 100% and if its not good enough we will put our hands up and accept it. but as for people saying we were or are in crisis for a team in crisis we are doing well and the players we have are the players who want to play for waveney and i personally dont want it any other way.

Good luck to all involved and fair play to the big man for having a crack!! im at least 80% certain it wasnt Cecil I was told last night who would be taking over...I think I was talking to him a few weeks ago and said he didnt miss it at all, but like us all after a while its a dead cert ye miss it! Hopefully if it is him, it works out for him going back.

why did you ject it in gordy .... Goram I've stood down cause we don't have a big a squad as it is and when I'm playing you can't concentrate on my job on the pitch when you have to think of decisions off it so I made the decision to play rather than manage any more cause it just wasn't helping the team so hopefully we get someone in in the next few weeks and get back to playing football again

Focus on the playing while yer able. Pele took me advice too recently and he's back just playing.....I'm not just a fishy face!! ;D ;D ;D

I knew we'd discussed this LOL... quote author=alexdebogorski board=waveney thread=8512 post=155520 time=1308174688] As I said to an aul mate of mine once (and when I say auld I mean I don't speak to him anymore!!), I said, Michael, you canny play and manage at the same time, ye won't enjoy...I'll remember his response to the day I stop eating KFC, "fack aff to Michelin Fish"... I think now though, in that thing they call hindsight, he'd maybe agree with that statement. Hope it works out for him but my own opinion is ye should enjoy playing while yer able and leave the managerial stuff til yer done....I should have started doing me badges years ago actually!! your right fish mate you should do one or the other but have been trying to get fit for 2 season and cant get any where near it so im happy to stand on the sidelines and do that and play whenevers needed[/quote] Fair play for having a go though as the club really needed someone!!
