This happens every season, but clubs have the chance to propose changes at the AGM each June (but hardly anyone goes) - teams only consider the playoff option when its possible that it will happen to them, this isn't a dig at rab or Westend, i think goal difference is the way forward too, but these proposals need to be made pre-season

not busy today then rab?!
I think Serie A still use the playoff rule if I'm right??
What I don't get is why this rule only applies to the auto spot. A few years ago we finished level with Lisnafillan but they had a better head to head so got 6th and we got 7th. I know auto is different but at that stage we'd have liked to have at least got a shot at the lottery! It should be consistent throughout.
Out of curiousity what happens if teams 3rd/4th from bottom finish level?!

Think it's head to head then goal difference or the other way about lol.
Either way If (big if) we finish level with fx Antrim were better on both accounts.

Although the league table suggests that westend have sealed 2nd spot and ahoghill are now in the play offs it is far from the case and ill try and explain the complex situation the rules of the league have created, please correct me if i am wrong. Westends superior Goal Difference does not matter, a position can not be decided over goal difference, it is decided over how the teams faired head to head, both teams beat each other in the league, westend won 3-0, ahoghill won 3-1, so head to head westend win 4-3. But head to heads do not count when sorting out automatic promotion spots if the teams are level on points, it then goes to a playoff, with the losing team then going into another round of playoffs for the third promotion place. Ahoghill have played all their 26 games and are level on points with westend who have played 24 with a game against cullybackey on sat then the semi final of the cup on wed against, you guessed it, ahoghill, and then the final game of the league probably 3 days later against templepatrick. You are thinking, 1 point from those 2 games definately sees westend promoted but no, there is another twist in the tale. Ahoghill travelled to Dunloy in a midweek game a while back and were beat 2-1. Ahoghill put a protest in against dunloy for allegidely fielding higher league players against then. From what i can gather from the rules are that when a team sign a player, that player must only play for one team, the team that he is signing for, he can not play higher league he can only play for one team and one team only, again please correct me if i am wrong. When you are filling out the card on a match day you must tick a maximum of 3 players in your team who have played higher league football for another team that season even when they no longer play for that team and only play for you. So the protest is alledgly centred on the number of higher league players dunloy fielded and ticked that day. So the league finds itself in a situation where there could be an instance where ahoghill could be awarded 3 points for a win against dunloy, 3 points that affect the automatic promotion spot, it is a mess, i know! So instead of 1 point to secure automatic promotion and avoid a play off with ahoghill, westend could, depending on the leagues decision, need 3 points from 2 games to secure a playoff with ahoghill and 4 points from 2 games (playing ahoghill in between these 2 games in the cup semi) to secure 2nd spot. So this talk of ahoghill in the playoffs at this moment is wrong. Raberto win your last two games and problem solved!

I think its the Dunloy GAA white collar boxing night.....Basically boys that hurl or play gaelic football from Dunloy get matched up to box for a charity night...great idea and a money making dream Turfy will explain in detail tho. thats spot on pele. theres 11 fights each with a £1000 sponsor. each boxer (22 in total)has a £100 sponsor. its £15 a ticket and theyv 800 sold out. serious money making event, plus the bar profits. id say theyll clear 40 grand after all out goings. theres a lad from swatragh and one from portglenone fighting 2 different dunloy men. theyv 100 or so supporters coming with them. id say theres gonna be more fighting after it than during it ;D ;D
