Alex just PM'd me there , won the carlsberg cup !!! Rejection !!! Did wee Poodle play ;( lmao[/quote] DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR RANDALSTOWN Published on Sun Jun 06 13:06:49 BST 2004 THE final week of the Ballymena Saturday Morning League season brought a double dose of delight for Randalstown teams. Firstly, the third division side clinched promotion to Division Two by winning the Paddy Dunlop Cup play-off in a penalty shootout against Steadfast. Then, a few nights later, Randalstown Sky Blues retained the Carlsberg Cup with a comprehensive defeat of Raceview Rangers. The final silverware of the season was settled on Saturday morning when Glencloy Swifts defeated Holywell to win the Crawford Cup. CARLSBERG CUP FINAL Raceview Rangers 1, Randalstown Sky Blues 4: Randalstown Sky Blues retained the Ballymena United Social Club sponsored Carlsberg Cup with a 4-1 win over Raceview. This match hinged on two penalties, Sky Blues scored one in the first half while Raceview missed one when the score was 2-0 and if they had scored it might have sparked a comeback. Sky Blues opened the more positive of the two teams and Raceview keeper Peter Ross had to turn a Chris Dowie shot around the post after 10 minutes. Randalstown's pressure paid off half way through the half when Chay Hogarty put Gareth Mott through and as he bore down on goals he was upended and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Gareth Mott took the spot kick and slotted it home to send Randalstown Sky Blues in one up at half time. Raceview came more into the game in the early part of the second half but the Sky Blues defence restricted Raceview forwards Philip McBurney and Matt Boyd to long range efforts. Sky Blues were always dangerous on the counter attack and they hit Raceview with a sucker punch 15 minutes into the second half. Barry Mott played the ball into Richard Ewart who shook off two Raceview defenders before lifting the ball over Raceview keeper Peter Ross and into the net. Raceview threw everyone forward and half way through the half they were awarded a penalty kick when Matt Boyd was brought down. Matt Boyd took the spot kick and amazingly hit the inside of the right hand post ran across the goal line and hit the inside of the left hand post and come out to Philip McBurney who looked on in amazement as his shot was saved by the feet of Sky Blues keeper Paul Clarke. Ten minutes later the game was over as a contest when Chris Dowie beat the Raceview offside trap and raced cleared before scoring. The same player repeated the trick five minutes later when this time he outpaced the Raceview defence before slotting home Sky Blues' fourth. Matt Boyd pulled a goal back for Raceview with a low drive but it was too late as Sky Blues collected the Carlsberg Cup. David King, the league chairman, presented the Carlsberg Cup on behalf of sponsors Ballymena United Social Club to Randalstown Sky Blues captain Declan Kennedy to spark off the celebrations in Randalstown Raceview Rangers: Peter Ross, Stephen Kelly, Gareth Montgomery, Aaron Brown, Uel Adams, Alaster Forsythe, Matt Boyd, John McClean, Philip McBurney, Ian Millar, David Turtle. Substitutes: Vlad Gheorghiu, Richard Forsythe, Mark Burnside, Matt Redmond and Jason Cairns. Randalstown Sky Blues: Paul Clarke, Declan Kennedy, Gary Dixon, Samuel Neill, Mark Waddell, Barry Mott, Richard Ewart, Jordan Craig, Chris Dowie, Chay Hogarty, Gareth Mott. Substitutes: Jason Begg, Peter Gault and Harris Talbot. Referee: Mr Robert Swann; Assistant Referees: Mr Brian Patterson, Mr David McCullough Gaffer must be getting forgetful in his old age...or your telling lies again pepe!

2 each with the Thistle with goals from Squeak and Andy C. Great game played in the right manner(apart from Bale ) joking mate Some super stuff played by ourselves at times and every player looked hungry today. But Thistle were magnificent too and never gave us a minute, which will stand them in good stead in the run in for promotion. And yes wait for it. . . .Special praise to Goram. . . .came up for a corner in the dying embers of the came to head home and force the draw But the removal of the shirt was a step too far. . . .it took the big lad 5 mins to get it out over his head and a further 5 to make it across the halfway line forcing the ref to blow time up Good luck to the Thistle !!

Funny this should be mentioned, was finlay's error that cost us a perfectly good goal that night, which I believe would have contributed to a swifts victory. He admitted his error after the game, and he Mentioned it today again when doing our match. Anyway as it stand all saints are carlsberg cup holders so matters little now!

Really hard ask for us this Tues against the Homers as we have a few boys unavailable through work, injury and holidays. Wee Cas to be between the posts ,so its a big ask for the cub to perform against top class opposition seeing he hasn't done them since August but that's footie I guess!
