No way Pele. . . .think it hurt a lot of people that Capello had even passed judgement on AC when he can play him but never put his neck out to buy him. Unlike Kenny. Hope that's what your referring to as I've not seen the press confo yet mate. Kenny is wile shrewd and such a dry SOH that I reckon some folk don't get England cannae buy players - think thats why Capello never put in a bid. That and the fact he was overpriced by 20m And as for Kenny - why does no one get his humour but Scousers. Mumbles something and you all crease yourselves laughing cos it was Dalglish. Makes me cross. Now Strachan was funny and understandable. "Gordon, can we have a quick word?" "Velocity"

The big Greek had another shocker yday No need to dive in the way he did esp with cover behind in Only positive was that the Yids only got a point yesterday so we are still within touching distance

stevie G will be missed. Imo we should take aquilani back, cant believe the man wasnt given a chance, hes looked a class act any time ive seen him this year. Think we should bring him back for pre season

Think we should bring him back for pre season I dont think he'd ever do it in the English league. Bit different stroking it round in Serie A and getting hoofed up in the air before you've even got the ball by Joey Barton and the likes. I remember being so excited when Veron signed for United as he looked one of the best players in the world but he just couldnt hack the sheer pace of the Premiership. Prob good for Liverpool Aquilani's had a good season so they will get a large % of his transfer fee back...

I was at a lunch today in TenSquare Hotel in Belfast with Phil Thompson as guest speaker. He also did a question and answer session afterwards and I asked him who he would see as 'realistic' transfer targets for the summer.
1. He claims Enrique deal is done from Newcastle 2. Charlie Adam deal will happen 3. Gary Cahill is a target but nothing concrete yet 4. He would also consider Stuart Downing 5. Ashley Young deal failed in January but has been agreed for £24m for the summer.
Personally I think that list is ideal, LB, CB, CM, LW, RW.
It was very interesting to hear some of the goings on that a lot of supporters would not know about.

Prob good for Liverpool Aquilani's had a good season so they will get a large % of his transfer fee back... The problem with Veron was that everybody expected him to be world class and fergie played him in a Lampard/Gerrard role, but when he was at his best in Serie A he was in a quarterback role, deep lying in midfield. In Italy he could get the space to do it, in England he got closed down to quickly, plus Keane liked to be the more defensive minded midfielder. Also Scholesy was pushed up further to accommodate him, but wasn't a success, so Veron took the stick for it.

I think Thompson would have said anything to send the pool fans home happy. Where will they get the money for all this. I don't think Liverpool should go near Adam, they need pacey wingers to supply Carroll, so if they play Carroll, Suarez and 2 wingers this leaves 2 midfield places. Gerrard in one, but I don't think Adam is a defensive minded midfielder, so who covers.

Agree with Donks on this one for sure. We need good classy wingers to get to the by-line and cross it in for AC. Charlie Adams has had a great season but that's it-1season. And he plays in a quarter back role ,deep lying at times and pinging diagonal balls. Now don't get me wrong,if he was available ,grand. But without wingers we wouldn't be playing to his strengths either And against Brazil I thought he had an absolute shocker tbh

And you could be right about aquilani, difference is though the man was never given a real shot at it. For a few games at the end of last season he was starting to show some nice touches and vision
